Oversized tires?

What size rim are you running? Depending on the tire manufacturer 275's are sometimes taller than 285's.

I am looking for advice myself. I have a stock 2011 sierra 3500HD. It has 4.10 gears and a 6.0 gas. The tires I have narrowed it down to are BFG's All-Terrain T/A KO, either LT275/70R18 or LT305/65R18. I would pick the 275 over the 285 because they are taller. Are the 305's to wide? Anybody running 305's on their truck. Did it decrease performance/mpg's? If I go with the 305's I think I will have to get a leveling kit, considering suspension maxx cam 3. Any input?

Why do we always reference the width when talking about tires in metric? 285 etc is the width and has less to do with the tires height. The small number or aspect ratio is the height. Op, something in a 33x 11 or a tad less is about it. What size wheels are you running? That will help wi the metrics.

Blackout,

You are right, 285 etc is the width and the smaller number is the percentage of the width to calculate the height, therefore the width ie 275 or 285 is directly tied to the tires height.

LT275/70R18: width is 275mm or 10.83inches

Sidewall is 70% of 275mm: 192.5mm or 7.58inches x2 = 385mm or 15.16

Rim is 18inches + sidewall(s) = 33.16inches tall
