Normal Operating Temp Characteristics?

Wouldn't be the first car coming of the line leaking a little coolant due to a loose connection.

Yep, happen to me on my 2011. I noticed a couple drops of coolant on the ground when my truck had only 700 miles on it. I found the fitting on the intake manifold that connects the heater core hose loose. I just tightened it myself rather then take it in.

Net result, after driving for a while, perfectly normal behavior for these trucks. Thanks for all the good feedback guys. When I have the A/C on it doesn't happen at all as the fan is running continuously. So, life is good.

I have a 2007 1500 silverado with the 4.8 v8 and have the exact thing happening to mine.. I thought there was something wrong with my truck.. After reading this forum it looks like thats normal.. It goes up and down, the hottest it gets is 235... And if i accelerate the temp gauge goes down to 210 and then back up when slowing down...normal right?

2012 4.8L

Last summer it never got beyond 210*F this spring and summer it gets to about 225* before the fans kick in and bring the temp down.

If I am cruising on the Hwy my temps are around 192*. My Aftermarket deck tells me, exact temps, it worried me at first but I have come to the conclusion it is normal.

No, shouldn't be going over 210. I've had my 6.2 for almost 3 years now and it has never gone over 210. Take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix the fans.

I have a question about 2003 4.8? While I'm driving down the road my temp gauge reads just below 200 but on occasion while I'm parked at idle while running my temp gauge drops to like 160 or 170 but I'm not really losing antifreeze or smelling antifreeze. Why does my truck do that
