yz2009 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 2001 silverado 1500. Reg cab long bed. The front right caliper was seized so I needed to replace it. No problem I thought and went out, bought a new caliper (Bendix I believe) from the auto parts store hooked everything up and upon applying the brake it leaked where the flex hose meets the caliper. I tried a different copper washer and I even tried the old copper washer. Still leaked. Alright the flex hose was in rough shape and a little rusted so I went out and bought a new one (Dorman brand). I hooked everything up and it still leaked just as much were the flex hose meets the caliper. On top of that the flex hose now leaks at the connection where the flex hose meets the steel brake line. Awsome. On top of the the replacement flex hose is a little longer then the OEM one and it really doesn't fit that well. My dad says I should go to the dealer and get factory gm flex hose and caliper. I'm getting annoyed with it and am considering just bringing it to the mechanic because I don't have all the time in the world and their are other things that need my attention. So basically should I bring it to the mechanic or if I buy the OEM flex hose and caliper do you guys think that will fix the leak. I guess I'm just looking for reasurrment because this trucks seems to not want to be fixed. Thanks
Carder09 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Why not take both parts back and swap them out? Should still be well warrantied if you just got them.
