My truck has been having similar symptoms as well, but it due to a slightly loose connection above the fuel pump. One of the two(?) connectors is lose and the play causes it to kill the fuel delivery. For the time being I've stuffed something in there that sits quite well and it hasn't given me any problems since.

I have had a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to my fuel rail, mounted outside the truck so I can read it, for almost a year.. and it reads 60-62psi at all times when running. And I have 178,000 miles on my '06.

If the fuel pump isnt the issue, it might be soon enough or contributing to the issue.
