I didn't like my factory radio at all. the GPS was slow the sound wasn't that great. With Maestro interface I was able to set up the steering controls to mirror 100% like they worked with the ogm1

yeah I was always a big "factory nav" guy until I tried the Aftermarket units. They are cheaper, easy to install and upgrade, sound better, and do more. I went with Pioneer and an XM tuner, the module and Steering wheel control adapter. Installed it myself in an hour. took it with me to my new truck, had it swapped over in 10 minutes.

I am satisfied with my factory sound but the nav part I am not so hot on. I use my Garmin.

That's what the big plus with the new Kenwoods since they use Garmin mapping. Plus when you use a Maestro interface, you get a whole host of neat goodies too!

I originally installed my DNX890HD using a PAC RP4-GM31 and I had some minor Alternator whine, low volume on chimes and lost XM and OnStar.

I just replaced the PAC RP4-GM31 with a Maestro RR and what a difference. Alternator whine is gone, chime volume is adjustable and XM and OnStar work. I don't use OnStar so I disconnected the OnStar microphone from the VCIM (OnStar unit right below the head unit) and connected it to my DNX890HD. I also made the CAN connections at the same place and can see selected gauges on the Kenwood.

If you install a Kenwood DNX890HD don't use anything other than a Maestro RR, very minor cost delta (about $18).
