I have a 2012 Silverado and I would like to mount my New V1 radar detector above or below the rearview mirror and would like to hard wire it. Anyone do this before? I have a backup came/onstar/autodimming mirror and would like to maybe tap in to apower and ground sorce... Help me out.

I have a 2009 sierra excab. I ordered a "Blend Mount" that attaches to the arm on the back of the mirror adjustment arm. I then took the cover off my "rain sense" sensor, tied a small knot in the hard line wire and pushed it behind the headliner, ran the wire over the driverside headliner, removed the A pillar cover and ran the wire down to the fuse box. A friend who owns a shop had a add a fuse gizmo that he used in place of a fuse in the fuse box for power.

I had done something similar to my 2001, only I was able to use a fuse that was hot only when the key was on. The new trucks dont seem to have a fuse that has no power when the fuse is off, or I couldn't find one. Hope this helps.

If you check out the Blend Mount they have pics on their sight of the finished install too.
