blackout07 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I think you'll be fine. Although I suggest not lifting the rear. Defeats the purpose of leveling to get rid of, IMO, that horrid looking rake.
Stevens08 Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 Blackout, I understand how you might think the rake is ugly, but It still serves a purpose for me, as I occasionally tow heavy loads. I may consider not putting the 2" on in the back if it looks good enough for me.. But we shall see..
Big Whiskey Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Looking forward to the pics! Also, you have the option of replacing the factory 1.25" block with your new 2.5" block, for only 1.25" additional lift in the rear. That will let you keep some rake, but not all of it. That's what I did with my 2" kit. Just an idea.
Stevens08 Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Thats my plan. However ive run into some issues installing my kit...The uper strut spacer went fine, the lower strut spacer however, the bolts installedwith the nut side up, rub on the front axle. The instructions show that I should do it with the nut side facing down, but this is virtually impossible without removing the front axle as the hole for the bolt is directly below.. any advice from previous installs???
dirtfan21 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 On my '07 the rough country 2" spacer went in with nuts up. It was a 20 min super easy install on my truck with the lower strut spacer. I don't recall fighting the CV shafts at all.

cparks555 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Are you trying to run the 2" upper strut spacer and 2" lower strut spacer together? Can you zoom out on the pic some as well?
cobrajet84 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 what leveling kit did you get? I did the ready lift with the upper and lower spacers and didn't run into this problem. Maybe put the nut on the bottom instead. Don't think it will hurt anything to do it that way.
Stevens08 Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 No, its the 2.5" lift from rough country. Comes with a .5" spacer on top of the strut. Then the typical 1-1/4 forged spacer block under the strut. The bolt runs through the lower control arm, through the 1-1/4" spacer and into the strut. then the nut goes on top of that. There is clearance at first. but then after torquing everything to spec, the nut just barely rubs the cv shaft. I can take more photos later this evening, im at work right now. EDIT*** @ Cobrajet - I would like to flip the bolts, but the cv shaft is directly over the bolt location on the lower control arm/strut. Im not sure how i could install the bolt the other way without removing the cv shaft.
dirtfan21 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Is that picture taken with the UCA is resting on the drop stoop?
Stevens08 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Dirtfan, please pardon me, but I have no idea what any of that is that you are talking about. However, i did resolve my issue. I just completely disassembled the upper ball joint which allowed more movement in the hub assembly allowing me to move the cv shaft out of the way enough to drop in the bolts. Fairly easy once i figured it all out. Wheels arrived today, I will put them on and take some photos tonight or maybe tomorrow after I wash'n-wax it :-D
Stevens08 Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 no lift <- After The Lift After the wheels and tires
Stevens08 Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Thanks! They fit great. I was nervous at first when I saw how wide they were. I figured they would rub for sure. Thankfully they didn't. At the tightest, they have maybe 3/4" - 1" of clearance. I was very surprised. I think its because they are about the same diameter as my stock tires, just wider. Did some minor offroading already. (more like basic trial driving) Love the tires. Thanks for all the help.
