Your new 2014 - How does it compare?

Been reading a lot about some issues, etc with the 2014. Most issues seem small, things that will be worked out. Most of you that have the 2014 have been driving
now for a month or so. So.. how does your 2014 truck compare to the previous model ( only 2007-2013) not concerned about anything older.

I have heard maybe the new 2014 Z71 doesn't ride as good? Especially
with 20in wheels? True? It’s looks like everyone agrees the truck is way quieter. What else can say when compared to the 2007-2013

If the 20" wheels ride rough I'm in for a real treat when my Z-71 Sierra comes in. I ordered with the factory 22's.

My opinion is that it's a truck and I shouldn't expect it to ride like a 5 Series BMW. Just sayin...

On the '14s. Any bucking on decal from 50 mph on down as you slow down?? Mine '09 would buck but still be in 6th gr. My 09 is bad at such at about 50 down to 40. My service mgr friend and I Have been all over the trk, reflash ecm, tcm, etc and still a problem. He said it is part the oxygen sensor check and mostly AFM. I hope they got it right this time. As I have only about 7 months left on my power train wty, I finally gave up and had Justin do a mild 89 oct tune turning off the AFM. Just a few days on the new tune and seems to have eliminated/minimized the problem.

If I bought a '14 and had the same problem, requiring a tune...I would not be happy camper.

My '14 is smooth as silk, I never owned a 2007-2013, but my friends have. It feels a lot more solid than their trucks, and the interior is no comparison. I haven't noticed any bucking but I've read that they put a lot of time into the trans tune on these new trucks. I came from a 2012 Ram and this truck is a lot smoother all around.

This is my first truck since 2002. Obviously I can't compare the two. Just like others have said though, this 2014 ride like silk to me. It out rides my wife's 2002 Tahoe and is even better and quieter than the 2012 focus Titanium that I traded in.

Thanks, for all '14 owners I do hope they got the decel and trany tcm done correctly. My 09 bucking on decel was enough to make me not by another GM trk.

Just give one a good test drive and try to pay attention. I know it's tough when you're excited about driving a new truck, lol.

My 09 drove great and then about a month in or so the very harsh bucking would show up maybe once a week or so. Not every time.

Drove a '14 a good ways. Trust me I was paying attention for that. Seemed TCM was programed a little more aggressively. Would kick down to fifth quicker with less accel pedal input on slight hills etc...I am sure they worked out the TCM programing and the AFM this time.

They dang sure fixed the rear cab vent noise on the 900s. On some surfaces the 900s sound like the right rear door is ajar or window is not shut all the way. Fixed on the '14s.

I prefer the 09 dash and center stack but can sure live with the '14s. My only slight complaint is that the controls on the arm rest are more forward requiring a lean forward reach to adjust mirrors etc. Other slight complaint is the change to bed rail covers. Just to hot for us light colored trk drivers. Do not lean on those puppies in S. Tx.

My 14 has much better room than the 08 did. The seating arrangement in the front is taking me awhile to get used to...the dash/seat arrangement is definitely different. This new 5.3 is a much better match to the 6 spd tranny, although I had the 4 spd, the shifts and smoothless transitions, combined with the power of this new motor is noticeably more. Additionally, I have noticed much lower rpm's when travelling at highway speeds.

The new interior Led's are so cool.

The computer technology is such a huge jump from the 08...there's no comparing it.

Was setting up Whitetail deer stands yesterday and so I had to drive about15Km of gravel  ...this truck doesn't bounce and shimmy as much on the gravel/washboard.

So far, I am also seeing better fuel economy...and hoping this improves even more.

test drove a 2014 sierra slt today... Then I bought it. I like the set up of the truck, interior is quieter and nicer than my 07 was. Cant wait to play more with the electronics on this new truck.

6'6" box is the best feature!

Mine feels a little sluggish on the gas, but that's just because it takes a bit on the peddle to make it really respond. There is good acceleration, even at highway speeds. The front/rear parking assist is great, as well as the rear parking camera with predictive reverse lines. Mylink navigation and entertainment is very intuitive and a large electronics upgrade. I really love the interior - great colors (I got brown/tan), lighting, features, and sound insulation. The overall ride is extremely smooth, it almost reminds me of a Lexus or something. I've got a Jeep Rubicon for the rougher stuff, so I'm a huge fan of the smoothness and refinement of this truck.

My only current complaints are my mpg and the forward leaning stance.

I'm currently averaging 15.3 mpg since I've taken it off of the lot (~150 miles total), but I've been punching the gas a bit more than normal and also hanging out in the truck before/after drivers much longer than I normally would (hey, it's new!). I reset my trip B and averaged 19.3 after three days of the work back and forth. I was definitely easing off of the gas a bit, but I was also sitting in some morning rush hour traffic. If I get out of the house early and leave the office early, I wouldn't be surprised to see 21+ mpg (6 highway miles and 4 city street each way).

My second complaint is the somewhat exaggerated forward leaning stance, I will definitely be investing in a leveling kit.

Looks good!! It appears we have the same color, Tungsten Metallic. It really pops in the sun!! Being stuck in traffic and using the remote start kills the gas mileage, along with mashing the throttle. Driving it nice, I've already seen a 25.8 25 mile average.
