2014 silverado headlights

Recommended Posts

I have a z71 LT2 silverado with regular headlights and I am looking into getting the projector headlights for the truck. Does anyone know if I can just switch out mine for the the projector headlights. Kind of a plug and play way. I have asked the dealership and they keep telling me that their not sure. If anyone has answers, I will really appreciate it.

Not sure how that helped you, but yes, you should be able to just buy the projector version of the stockers and install them. I hear they are PRICEY though, so maybe thats where Retrofit source comes in. Might be cheaper to have your regular lights altered.

Yes!, that's is what I'm looking into doing, but the dealership keeps telling me that they don't know. Now that I know that they do replace I have one

More question. Do I need to change any harness connections or wires? I will look into the retrofit, but I'd rather get the stock projectors tho.

What are the bulb sizes for both sets of headlights. That will be the determining factor...

Does any one have pics of a 14 with the kit in? I would be interested to see how they look like?

What kit are you taking about? He just wants to swap LT headlights for LTZ headlights at this point...

I'm not sure on the bulb sizes but I am looking into getting the hids put on them so I think it doesn't matter what size they are.

off topic... but a lot of guys have been posting about adding factory options they wished they had - like bed LED's, back up camera, headlights, etc. Just a suggestion.. if you are in doubt or "on the fence" about getting a higher trim package... DO it. It's a lot cheaper to get it all from the factory then to go back and add later. The price difference isn't going to kill you if you can already afford to buy a 40K truck.

Ok so I found out today from a local dealership who had an LTZ and my LT2 Z71 truck. The lights easily swap out. Plug and play. I have a illustration on it , but I don't know how to attach it to here.

It will if the connectors for the bulbs are different. If for example the LT headlights take H11 bulbs and the LTZ housings take 9006 bulbs the connectors for the bulbs might not fit. I don't know what sizes the headlights take but I'm just using those as examples...

Don't HID kits come with one connector for all Chevy trucks even tho they are different bulb sizes? That's how it worked for my 2008 silverado. Btw this is the illustration to the headlight that I was able to get. post-123522-0-01480200-1376598347_thumb.jpg

The plug from the truck that goes into the bulb is different for each bulb size. Some are the same but side are very different. Additionally, often times GM reverses the polarity of the wiring and you have to flip the plug over to get them to work...

so I recently found out that both headlights, no matter what bulb size it has, has the same overall plug. If you look at the illustration I have provided, you will see that there is a harness that goes inside the headlamp which is the dark wire that is illustrated there. That connection goes to # 7 which is a universal connection for the stick projector and non projector headlights.
