A few weeks ago I went to Maine for about a week and left my car parked under some pine tree's, believe it or not there's still quite a bit of them out there... Anyway when I got back I got a little too energetic taking some sap off my front passenger window (07 Crew Cab NBS) and scuffed it up pretty good. Any ideas on how to get the scratches out? I can barely feel the scratches when I rub it, it just feels like a mildly rough patch, it's just noticeable in the sunlight. I can post pix if needed. I'd prefer to not replace the window since it's the original.

Thanks for any help.

What did you use to remove the sap?

Apparently an air chisel or an angle grinder. :)

I used the abrasive side of one of those double sided sponges, and got impatient. Not the brightest thing but I did drive for about 15 hours before this, including a 4 hour stop on the side of the road waiting for AAA when my step dads transmission went BOOM about 215 miles from home... so ya stupid I'll admit but I figured if anyone knows the fix it's probably someone on here.

That's the best idea I've heard so far, I didn't know if there's a special glass repair kit or something due to automotive applications having a special type of glass.

There's the scratches if that helps.

I saw the guys on Trucks on the Spike channel 'refurbishing' some glass and they were using a product that was made to take out scuffs and scratches, so the stuff is out there. Wish I could remember the name but I at least wanted to let you know.

Thanks for all the replies. I got some polisher off of the site Ryan posted, and got a glass buffing kit off amazon, which I was hoping to avoid since I'll probably do more damage than good with it but we'll see. If anyone's interested I'll post some after pix unless it goes horribly wrong lol

If you ever have pitch on anything again, use a clean soft cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Even if it has turned rock hard, the rubbing alcohol will soften it up and it will come off with no damage.

elite,

Thanks for the heads up. One of the wiper blades on my wife's car came loose and scratched her passergers side front window. I'm going to give this stuff a try and see how it goes. Might take a while but I'll post pics too.

Just keep a steady hand and be patient, it's sandpaper after all. The scratches are out but there are waves now because I wasn't as patient as I should have been. If they're super small scratches then just try the compound it works wonders.

Thanks for the hint. I shouldn't have rushed like I did I felt it scratch and kept going... It was really a stupid situation lol
