ok, i have a 14' LT crew with the trailering package (not max tow) all star 5.3 from everything i have read between the the gmc and chevy websites the 5.3's come with an external oil to air cooler but i cant see on on the truck.. is it possible that it doesnt have one although it has the trailering package?

KNP is "cooling system - transmission, HD" and the oil-to-air cooler is mounted in front of the AC condenser coil; should be readily visible through the front grille. KC4 is "cooling system - engine oil"; that is integral to one of the radiator tanks.

The cooler is usually small unless you have the Duramax

The top 1/5th of the AC Condensor is the auxiliary transmission cooler. The main cooler inlet pipe is at the bottom drivers side of the radiator. From there, the top of the radiator has an outlet pipe that wraps around to the aux cooler on the condensor in front of the radiator. Then, there is a return line on the passenger side of the aux cooler, back to the trans.

Anyone have any pics?

I wonder the same thing if mine has one, when towing my tranny temps get up to 240 pretty easy on a decent climb and I've even had my dash light up with warning signs saying "Alert - Engine Oil HOT. Action Required - Idle Engine".

This scares me, My 07 V-Max never did this towing the same set up and same grades.

I planned on putting a Tranny cooler on this truck because I didn't see it behind the bow tie like my old truck, my dealer told me there's one but I figured he was lying since I couldn't see it.

I am trying to figure out where the engine oil cooler (PRO Code KC4) are and the details. Along with PRO code KNP, factory external trans cooler. I looked up the fact there are two different radiator part #'s for our trucks. With or w/out max trailer pkg. But the rest of these items it's hard to figure out how to piece an OEM retrofit.

This is correct. Much like allot of Chrysler vehicles. All the v8 trucks have them there. The v6 trucks even with trailing package does not get one.

Ran my PRO codes today and looked around the engine bay. I have PRO codes KC4 for external engine oil cooler and KNP for external trans cooler. Z85 suspension and Z82 trailer pkg. Made my freaking day having the KC4 & KNP. I did see the engine oil cooler lines coming off the engine. I also pulled some good diagrams from some online dealers. The engine oil cooler goes into the passenger side of the radiator. There is no external engine oil cooler. Engine oil cooler is the passenger side tank of the radiator. I had no idea there was a separate chamber in the top of the condenser for the trans lines. From the research I've been doing I'm only missing (terms of cooling) is the larger max tow pkg radiator, which should be a direct swap out. So I'm looking at swapping out the radiator and rear leafs and adding tow mirrors. And throw a P3 brake controller in the dash pocket. I can live with those mods. As for shocks I'll stick to the OEM Z85's until they wear out and will do some bilstein replacements. I'm not a Rancho fan. Nor do I want some botique high dollar set of shocks. Believe it or not, when I built my straight axle 4runner rock crawler which was also my daily driver in Tampa, I tried a ton of shocks and ended up with Yellow Monroes. On my F250 6.0 which had the FX4 off-road pkg, which had rock hard Rancho shocks, I ended up with Monro Reflex shocks. The Reflexes transformed that Super Duty. Monroe does not list reflexes for our trucks...

Anyway, found some good parts diagrams. The engine oil cooler is on the passenger side of the radiator and has the larger metal piping. The below pic for the engine oil cooler looks like it's mirriored or something. Note the lines come off the oil filter side which is on the driver side. in the pic below they show the filter on the passenger side. Trans cooler is on the driver side of the radiator and then connects to the top portion of the condenser, using smaller metal piping. There is only the radiator and condenser/trans cooler. the engine oil cooler does not have a separate sandwiched cooler.
