Honestly..... get a gen iv 6 liter from like a 2500 or 3500 HD. Get just the short block if you can..... or complete and sell the heads and intake to some sucker. Use your 4.8s heads and intake manifold and then cam it how you so choose and have a hard running truck. L92 heads are massively over rated.... and useless in most instances IMO. They are massive for nothing as you just make the engine a dog in anything below 4500 rpm for nothing on a 6 liter.... or 6.2 for that matter. Ly6 and L96 are cheap and easy. Iron block with no active fuel management junk like the L76 pos lol.

The L92 heads have gaping intake ports and on a 4" bore the valves are heavily shrouded on the cylinder wall side. The additional 65 thou of the 6.2 bore helps this problem but even so the port sizes remain. People don't understand you can get a high cfm port that still maintains good slow speed velocity characteristics..... gm misses this on the L92s big time and just went sewage pipe port size with a big valve.... Then they expect it to drive well in a 6500 lb truck pulling a 10000 lb trailer...... some engineers should actually field test their abominations...or maybe understand flow theory correctly... its not difficult.

I also was wondering about tuning my 2007 z71 2wd or if I should put a more powerful used engine in. The problem is I am a noob this is my first truck and don't know jack about what engines are compatible and what kind of real world specs they will produce. Anyone who can school me much will be appreciated.
