5.3 liter shortage..

Anyone hear about GM having supply issues with the 5.3 liter? Sounds like they are limiting how many trucks dealers can buy with the 5.3. Hope they can resolve their supply issues quickly.

My neighbor just bought a silver crew cab LTZ with the 20" wheels. Wonder if he would take a tired old 2002 F150 in a straight up trade? Now I have to see his truck every day when I come home..its beautiful

Back when I ordered my SLT with 5.3 was told that GM was trying to push the 4.3? (heck, I don't even know what size it is)and that out of 6 pickups they had ordered right after mine they could only get 2 with the 5.3. WEll, most folks in our area won't purchase one with the smaller engine as most pickups are used as pickups. That was the discussion we had at the time.

Could be other reasons, just what I was told. This was first of August. He was worried when he ordered my pickup that they would not pick up the 5.3 in it. But they did and all is well.

It's true, they're selling better than they expected. Shouldn't be a big deal, give them a few months.

Good, I guess, but not good for those of us patiently waiting until some better incentives start rolling out. If demand keeps up like this, we may be waiting until the next F150 launch before we start seeing any decent incentives. I don't know how much longer I can hold out

They have changed the price of the 5.3 option. When I bought my truck, the salesman was looking in the computer to find the color I wanted several of the trucks were a couple hundred dollars more expensive for the same options. When he started looking close he realized the only difference in price was the price of the motor.

I ordered my truck on 9/13, salesman was "confident" they'd have the vin by 10/31 so that I could take advantage of a private offer on my gm card. He seemed to know a lot of details about the ordering and building process prior to my placing the order, but hasn't followed through with the promised status updates since. After several email inquiries I was finally provided my order number and told of this constraint. If dealers are only being given a portion of their 5.3 orders, and orders for sold vehicles are actually given priority, as I was told, I'd think I'd be ok,with regard to my deadline. But, it appears they haven't even started building the thing yet, and it's pulling teeth to get any info from my once loquacious salesman.
