34's w/ trimming?

Do you guys think that 34/12.5/17 (305/70/17 on H2 wheels) or 34/13/16 (325/70/16 on 16x8 wheels) will fit under my 2500HD crew-cab w/ just 1/2 ton keys, cranked t-bars and some trimming?

I don't do off-roading w/ it...nothing serious anyway.  And my front end is real soft, so I won't mind stiffening it up some.  I would have no problem adding a 1-2" block in the rear if the front ends up higher than the rear.

If I do this will I need to flip the ball joints or add longer shocks?  I don't really have a problem doing that either...I just don't want to lift it as my wife will hate not being able to get in.

Thanks for any input,

Brett

I wouldn't bet on it..you can lift it but I wouldn't.. I don't need ride height I need towing...and I've heard that after lifting a truck the company that manf. the lift considers it only to be a 1/2 ton truck.  Just my $0.02...

Crank the T-bars throw 285's or 305's under her and let it rock.

Thanks for the reply guys...I guess I'll probably end up with 33/12.5/17s then.  I wouldn't mind going to a place that would allow me to test fit the 305/70/17 just in case...but I probably won't find someplace that allows that AND stocks that size.

I'll stick with the 33s, maybe the set after that I'll give 34s a shot.

Thanks again,

Brett

Even 305/70's are gonna be a stretch. It's not the height, it's the width -- a 305/70 is no taller then a 285/75, which is what I have and they fit fine, but it is wider. Looking in my wheel wells at full lock makes me glad I didn't get 70's. But hey, you might be real good with a sawzall!  :smash:  :smash:

A 305/70/17 will be taller than a 305/70/16 (and 285/75/16 ) Seeing how the rim is bigger the sidewall will be the same so overall height is taller. 305's the tread width, 70 is the ratio of sidewall height to width (or vise versa I forget). So the width is the same, BUT the height of the tires hes talking about is 1" taller, or 1/2" closer to the body all around.

Thats why he's saying a 34" tire. I'm running 305/70/16  and yes they are the same height as a 285/75/ 16but wider as you mentioned. (same as a 33x12.50)

Even with a 3" body lift I had to trim the air dam a bit. And they will rub the sway bar a little at full turn. (Using stock wheels.) I'm sure a different offset can correct that.

You're right -- I missed the rim size when I read the post initially. I guess he can forget the sawzall and try to get himself acquainted with a blow torch instead.  :smash:  :smash:
