Convince Me

I went from an 07 Tundra to a 14 Sierra. Looked at the F150 and would have rather kept my Tundra. I was biased towards another Tundra, but disappointed the engine was still the same and they dropped dual-zone air with cloth interiors. GM offered a crew cab with 6.5 foot box I couldn't find in a RAM, though someone else on here says he actually has a RAM like that. My previous experience and friends experience with Dodge and poor reliability prevented me from seriously considering them anyway. Very impressed with all the power and usb ports in the console of the GM, as well as the mileage. So for me it came down to keeping my Tundra, which was very reliable, or taking a chance with GM. I drove a dozen 14 Silverados and Sierras a total of 500 miles and was impressed with the consistent quality, though you would never know it looking at some of the complaints on this forum. Bottom line is I took the plunge and bought the Sierra. 12K trouble free miles later I'm still liking it. I'm getting a pretty consistent 20mpg compared to 15 in my Tundra, so a 33% improvement. That in itself will never make up the cost of buying a new vehicle, but I also sold my 09 Venza that got 23mpg so now only have the expense of one vehicle instead of two. So for me it made financial sense, and knock on wood the truck has been great. See my signature block for more info on mods, etc.

Edited: this report http://special-reports.pickuptrucks.com/2013-light-duty-challenge.html had a big influence on my decision. There are many other reports out there from other sources that are all very favorable to the 14 GM trucks.

I bought my GMC because it GMC had an extended cab and Ram did not. Oops - not a GM option anymore. Buy what you like.

I have GMC truck and my sister has a Ram truck. Both have been good vehicles so far.

Double cab is the extended cab with different doors.
