Anyone have rattle issues with their new 2014 Sierra

I just joined this website in hopes of getting some feedback. I just bought a brand new 2014 GMC Sierra 4X4 Crew Cab about a month ago. It now has about 1300 miles on it. This is the first brand new vehicle I've ever bought. I've always refused to buy brand new in the past because of the instant depreciation..not to mention the taxes. But, I thought since I'm 52 yrs old...I would bite the bullet and splurge once in my life. Anyway, on to the topic. I was wondering of anyone has been having trouble with rattle issues on these 2014 trucks. I don't know what it is...but every time I drive over a semi rough road, or a road with any kind of bumps...I get several rattles and squeaks that seem as if they were coming from the passenger area. I can't seem to find where they are coming from. I've checked everything from seatbelts possibly banging against the post to a possible loose door panel. I've always heard not to buy the first year of a new generation vehicle and I'm beginning to believe that's true. I love the look of the truck but I'm becoming more and more disappointed. A new vehicle should be as tight and quiet as anything possibly could be. I've always mostly owned Chevy trucks with the exception of 2 GMC's...this being the 2nd one. The last GMC was a 2008 Sierra that I traded for this one. It was also a Crew Cab 4x4. It developed a loud rattle deep in the dash at about 80k miles...never did find it. However, all the chevy trucks I've own (and I've owned approximately 15 throughout my lifetime)...have always been solid and quiet...even the ones with over 200k miles on them. I'm beginning to regret this purchase...since you would think a $50,000.00 vehicle would be as tight and quiet as baby church mouse...not to mention solid as a rock. I test drove the Dodge and Ford and kinda liked the Ford...but just couldn't part from the GM looks. However, I'm beginning to wonder if I should have went with a Ford...at least once in my life. I guess if nothing else...I will trade this one after about a year. Anyway, any feed back would be appreciated. By the way...I took it to the dealership and was told "most rattles are hard to find and you can create more when you try to find the existing ones." So, that was not encouraging. So again, any feedback would be great! Thanks!!

No way I'd accept that answer from the dealer. Of course he's hoping you say, "Oh OK, I'll live with this--I don't want to make it worse."

If they make it worse fixing it, then they'll have to fix that too! Sometimes rattles are hard to find - sometimes they're nothing more than forgotten change in a compartment--but if it's bothering you, don't ignore it. Make them fix it.

Got the same problems just haven't done anything about it. Was going to wait for a fix before I let a service tech go on a goose chase.

I've just developed a rattle from somewhere inside the front of the console. It almost sounds like speaker feedback and it's really starting to drive me nuts. Thought I could live with it, but it's starting to annoy the hell out of me.

Hello soltys,

I am sorry to hear of the rattle you've recently developed in your truck. I understand you are seeking thoughts and opinions from other forum members, but I also recommend contacting the Customer Assistance team in your home market to further discuss your situation. Unfortunately, we are not authorized to further assist customers located outside of the United States. I provided the contact page for the Canadian GM Customer Assistance team below. I recommend contacting them as they can check for any open service announcements and assist you throughout the process of working with your dealership.

I'm not sure about rattles but I remember my 2007 silverado developed a horribly annoying squeak in the passenger seat when it would vibrate after hitting bumps and such in the road. The worst part was if I hit the seat myself I couldn't recreate the squeak but it would drive me nuts driving around. Long story short I told the service rep about it next time I went in for an oil change and there was some service bulletin out. I don't know the exact details but they tightened something up and it was fixed for good. I would tell your service rep what you're hearing. Sometimes they know of a simple fix.

Many panels in these vehicles are secured with metal clips which have to be fully seated to properly secure the panels. I had a terribly annoying squeak in my Impala and when I finally found the source, all it took was a light smack with the palm of my hand to seat the clip on the left side rear window trim panel and everything has been quiet ever since. And was that squeak annoying! Every time I hit the slightest bump in the road I would hear it.

Our 14 Impala had a nasty rattle in the passenger front door and it turned out to be 2 broken wiring harness clips. I took the door panel off and saw them, then took it to the dealer and told them what I had found. They ordered new clips and it's quiet as can be now.

9000 miles and I have one too, driving me crazy. I can press my hand on the padding under the headlight knob and it stops. Really irritating!

I had heated seats installed afterwards (from dealership, wrong idea!) and after about 2 weeks of having them a rattled developed. I determined the seat to be the culprit as if you placed your hand or any weight on it at all it would go away. Depending on the amount of weight, it would go away for a little bit even after the weight has been taken off.

I've taken it to the dealership 3 times now and they cannot find the culprit and each time all they do is "tighten all bolts and screws down"... Even after taking them for a test drive and them saying that its bad and should be an easy fix.
