Jan 2014 Rebates

I made the mistake of test driving a Ford, I am a die hard Gm guy but that Ford Lariat with the 5.0 for

way less money seems like the way to go for me. Not sure i can actually buy the Ford but it sure is tempting.

They are a great proven truck, it doesn help to read all the negative stuff on here about the new chevy's.

I have 3500 in GM points but the Ford is still a great deal right now.

Gm will have to jack up the rebates in spring I think------just my opinion!!!!!

I purposely delayed test driving a F150 until I could drive a Denali. I didn't expect so large of a selling price difference between the two, but then again the dealer I test drove the Denali at offered no dealer discount. I see the truck is sold now, so maybe they did have a lot of interest in it. I was told when I test drove it that it just came off the transport truck a few minutes prior to that and they had 3 other people interested in test driving it. Our last 7 vehicles have been GM. I am afraid to drive a Ram, I hear they are giving huge discounts on them and I don't know if I could pass on the hemi with an 8 speed.

Do you know the breakdown of the $2750? I only see a $750 rebate for the Sierra on the GMC website.

Zman,

To be honest I do not know. Once I heard it was $1,000 less today vs yesterday I told him I will have to wait until next month. He mentioned they could add $500 or so in the next few weeks but said it would probably be February/March when G.M has their "Truck Month" specials. Looks like I will be waiting a few more months.

I did go look at the Platinum and Rams this evening. I just like the Sierra's too much to buy anything else. I'm just not willing to spend that kind of $$ just yet. Looks like I will be patient and wait. It's torture when you see the exact truck you want but still more than you are willing to pay.

If you read they say thru 1/2/14 on their web page too

Or not... I looked up a 2014 GMC Sierra Double Cab SLE 4WD.(see below) Think the 1/2/14 expiration is on the conversion trucks that probably did not get updated or have been sold. That said, they do not update their site daily. So a truck that is shown may or may not be there. You do have to call & ask for the specific stock number or if something similar is in stock. The truck I bought there was not online per specific stock number, but another exactly like it down to color was.

I'm in the same boat. Ready to buy but missed the holiday deals unfortunately. I was considering a truck decided to sleep on it as I would have been settling on options. That truck sold the next day and I was unable to find another with option I wanted before the deals ended yesterday. I'm going to check on another truck tomorrow to see if I can get the same deal I was offered before. If the dealer can't make it happen I will probably just wait as I'm in no hurry.

Still showing $9,000 plus off GMC Sierras at Laura GMC. Some of it is trade assist & loyalty stuff. If that is of interest to anyone.

I had a very bad experience with out of state Chevy dealer while attempting to purchase a vehicle. I made an appointment on a Thursday night to come down midday Saturday to examine and purchase the truck. Internet sales person told me she would be there until closing Friday and all day Saturday. Called and emailed salesperson Friday night and Saturday morning to make sure vehicle was still available, didn't get a response, so I assumed salesperson was busy with a customer. I make the 3 hour drive to the dealer on Saturday to find out the salesperson took Saturday off, left early on Friday, and they sold the truck on Friday after she left. To add to the frustration, a guy at the dealership tries twisting it around that it was my fault for not calling the main dealer number to verify the truck was still there. This was the most unprofessional dealership I ever dealt with. What is the point of making an appointment, note salesperson insisted I make an appointment, and then the person takes off without notifying me and nobody covers for her.

Local dealer(well salesman) did that to me. Saw something on a Sunday & worked a deal out over the phone Mon-Tues. Was working 14-16 hour days at the time. Called ahead two days later(Thursday), no response from salesman but showed up to finalize things. Truck was sold, but the salesman was there to push another truck off on me that I did not want. The guy would not take no for an answer, so took off in it. Let the guys at my shop test drive the crap out of it & returned it with around 200+ miles on it. At that point, told him I was not interested in it. It was a demo that had 3,000 on it already.

I would not do that again, but thinking it was a mutual feeling that we(salesman & I) not talk to one another again.

If price is a factor the F150 would be the one. I test drove both a 13 F150 ( new) that was a 6.2 with 373s and a 14 GMC 6.2 373 truck. The F150 was a loaded FX4. Sunroof, NAV, heated/ cooled leather, Fx4 appearance package etc. I am in Canada and stickers are dumb but it was 59500. They knocked over 10k off and likely would have taken a 45k all in( taxes and fees) offer on it or even less. They should as its a 13 lol..... but as mentioned with the new 15s coming the 14 will have much the same rebate wise. Outgoing model so not really a fair comparison.

The 14 GMC stickered about a grand cheaper... but had no NAV, no sunroof, 40/20/40 split bench and the base stereo... not near as nice options wise. They went down to $50k plus taxes... but they would never drop to the Ford price.... not to mention the Sierra had way less options.

Both nice trucks to drive. The Ford tranny shifts better so since its the same trans as Gm uses Gm should hire the Ford TCM tuner. The Gm has more power by a bit and definitely more down low. Truthfully neither one impressed me for the advertised numbers but oh well.

Once the revamped F150 comes out I will try again. Local dealer has a loaded 6.2 high country I wouldn't mind driving the bag off of lol.

Gm will drop though throughout the calendar year so if you can wait they will come down with higher incentives.

It's taking a lot of patience when you finally find a truck within 250 miles which matches all of your requirements, but you can't pull the trigger because rebates were reduced. When it's all said and done, I think its more like February (GM truck month) when rebates increase and I pull the trigger.

Maybe I'll receive a private offer with my GM card. I haven't received one since Sept.

What is with GM? They jacked the prices and has been stingy on the discounts the. When they finally start playin ball they go back on it... Good way to lose sales brand loyalty only goes so far

What's the deal?

As Ford CEO Alan Mulally mentioned months ago, one of the biggest problems
facing the company was its new launches. It's a difficult and complex process
to switch between model years' production and juggle the appropriate raw
materials and supplier products. General Motors seems to be facing this exact
problem, and it appears to be dampening sales of its Silverado.

The first issue that popped up,

according to a report by Bloomberg, was that General Motors was having
inventory constraints on its most popular engine option, the 5.3-liter V-8.
General Motors since refuted that there being a problem and claimed it was able
to fulfill 80% of dealer orders. Now a second issue has definitely popped up.

Another constraint, this time

axles, has put a speed bump in General Motors' production of its 2014
full-sized pickups. It should be noted that this isn't a quality issue; rather,
it's a production capacity issue with a supplier. The axle issue is affecting
different models, and that's what's leading to a problem.

The pricier crew cab was the

first of the 2014 Silverado pickups to roll out, and many dealers are waiting
on more stock of the regular and double-cab models, which have been slowed by
the axle supply constraint. General Motors expects the regular and double cabs
to account for about 40% of pickup volume, and if dealers can't get the stock
needed, it could slow down sales of GM's most profitable and popular vehicle.

To up the stakes even more, this

summer was General Motors' window of opportunity to pull market share away from
Ford because its next-generation F-150 won't launch until next year. It had a
chance to get its loyal buyers in the showrooms and market to those consumers
on the fence about buying now or waiting for Ford's F-150. That opportunity is
fading as Ford begins to ramp up marketing for its all-new F-150.

For a little proof of the effect

supply constraints are having, first remember that September's vehicle sales
were down 4%, ending a streak of gains of 27 consecutive months, partially
because August pulled holiday sales forward, leaving less demand in September.
With that in mind, consider that Ford's F-Series and Dodge Ram were still
able to improve 10% and 8%, respectively, in year-over-year sales, while the
Silverado fell 11%.

Let's be honest, though. Even

without supply constraints, the Silverado and Sierra have their work cut out
for them if they want to overtake Ford, which has outsold General Motors' two
full-size pickups combined since the recession. Many consumers in the auto
industry, and especially the full-size truck segment, are extremely loyal.
Guess which automaker ranks at the top of consumer loyalty. That's right: Ford
does, bringing back a majority of its consumers, according to a study by R.L.
Polk earlier this year.

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
