Tire with wheel add ons

I know this topic has been beaten on over and over, but what will the side effects be of adding a small wheel spacer or possibly one with its own wheel lugs to my 05 2500HD running the stock rim and a 285 tire? I know it's not good for your suspension but I don't understand how since it's only like an inch or two that the wheel will stick out farther. What are some good wheel spacers? I'm just looking to give my truck some "stance". Anybody have wheel spacers? Thoughts? Pics?

  By the way the 98 diesel with its 355 gear gets 25 mpg at 65 mph. The 2000 7.3 one ton diesel gets 22 with the more pulling gear at 65. The way my mother drove it to town on secondary roads usually at 45 mph got better than that.

  I'm confused on the 10 qts—the L8T takes 8 (7.9, actually) quarts with an oil/filter change.

  I pulled mine last night, it was crusty like all the ones on the internet. I cleaned it off and put it back on. It made a difference in drivability - truck seems to have a bit more pep to it. Milage is showing preliminarily a boost too of about 1-2 mpg. I'm going to start checking it each oil change.

  I pulled mine last night at my latest oil change. It has at least 90K mile on it since its seen daylight. It looked about like the photo above. I knocked the loose stuff off, shot it with some cleaner, hit it with compressed air and put it back. I'll be danged if the truck doesn't seem to be a little lighter on its feet today. With a bit better milage too. Guess I'll be more regular about cleaning it.

  Haha. This old man is in real good shape. If I wasn’t retired I’d still get a new truck every two years. I like the performance. My family business has a fleet of all the brands. Even performance trucks. I like the old stuff better. Too much glitter and intrusion. They don’t last like they used to. It’s a shame because the less fortunate second, third owners will pay that price.
