my 03 has the flapper, my 08 Aveo had it. my 2012 Express, and the 2010-2012 Ford vans at work do not have them, but their Flex Fuel..could be why... :dunno:

 

did you have a Sedan or Hatch? because I just checked my '10 Sedan, and it DOES NOT have a Flap.

No flap on my '11 but there was a flap on my '04. But the answer to the question is the ventilation. If it builds up pressure, it stops the pump. Try a different angle like stated, or do not put the nozzle in as far as it will go, it almost seals the hole.

My 96 Buick had a flap.. And one station here there's one pump with a big nozzle that I can't use but the rest are smaller I was pissed lol
