"Some experts say it could take independent repair shops up to 10 years to become proficient in aluminum repair. " so when welfare queen backs into your truck.... uuuum yeah... To be honest, I hate good body work. it's never the same as the factory. No way I would buy something that the shops are going to "Learn" on

They usually replace panels. The guy who was CEO of the company I work at when I first started had an Audi A8L that got caught in a hail storm. Every panel was replaced.

Repairing panels is a lost art. Too easy and cheap to replace panels now. Aftermarket parts killed the body repair man. Any body shop that does not know how to finish or repair aluminum should be ran from. Any decent body shop paints their fair shat of aluminum boats and vehicle body panels. It is not like it is a new service.

when I went to School for Collision Repair, our Instructor told us we would have to do a Fender Test. he basically took a fender we either brought in or the school provided, he would go at it with a Hammer, and we would have to Repair the Fender.

this is what I used as my Fender Test; I kept it because at the time I was driving My Plymouth and I intended to use it as a spare part. the way I repaired this Fender, YOU CANNOT TELL Where the Repairs were made unless you look on the back of the fender! Body Repair being a Lost Art? not Really.
