OnStar, Back-up Camera in Mirror

My '02 Sierra 1500 didn't come with OnStar, and I'm not sure when GM started with back-up cameras, but I'd like to have them both. Is it possible to retrofit and maintain the OEM look?

Not sure about the OnStar retrofit, but Gentex made inside mirrors with the small monitor in them for both Onstar, and non Onstar applications.

Great, thanks! I also found OnStar FMV, an aftermarket mirror to add OnStar capability, and Gentex mirrors with OnStar buttons, so it's got to be doable.

I'm not sure you can add an OE-like OnStar system to that truck. Prior to 2006 they used analog technology that is no longer usable due to analog cell towers being obsolete. The FMV is the way to go for that.

I think it's 2004 when it changed. My truck is still onstar capable, I had a subscription for a year about a year ago (insurance paid for it). Everything worked, couldn't use the app but I still got the monthly emails.

 

Might depend on the vehicle though.

2009 was the 1st year GM trucks had the rear-veiw b/up camera on the inside mirrors.
