Drove 2 trucks with 5.3 surprised by my observations

I drove 5.3 with the 3.73 and max trailer package and then a 5.3 with the 3.42 gears. i expected the truck with the 3.73 to perform better. It definately did not the 3.42 were ok not tooo bad. The truck with 3.73's was a little sluggish and would have lost a race with the 3.42 truck. I was very confused I expected the opposite to be true. Only difference I noticed was the truck with 3.73 had the 20 inch wheels and the other had 18's. Night and day difference for some reason not sure if its the wheels or not. I will have to look for a 5.3 with 3.73's and 18 inch wheels to find out. After that i got back in my truck with 6.0 and 4.10's and drove a little and said nope I would not be happy with those they are not anywhere near the performance I have now. The new 5.3 has basically the same hp/torque numbers as my 6.0 and

the 6 speed with 3.73 should be better than my 4.10's with 4 speed. I thought the performance would be better or equal to what I have now.

So much can change the way the truck "feels". A different temperature can make an identical truck feel different.

I doubt it was the wheels. The only way you can tell the difference on a pickup is on a dyno. I have driven my pickup with factory 20's, factory 17's, GMT900 17's(current), P rated tires and 10 ply E rated tires(current, about double the weight of the P's). No noticeable difference in power.

I guarantee you its the 4speed vs 6 speed. I love the way the old 4 speeds are vs these new 6 speeds. It feels better and faster but its not. Atleast 5.3 vs 5.3. Your 6.0 is prob quicker and faster. All these 6 speeds need is a tune and itll feel like an improved 4 speed
