How are the Z71 & LTZ grille badges attached?

from what I can tell its just clipped on over the honey comb grille? anything on the back side?
I am sure someone has debadged these, is the mount a different piece than what it says IE: the LTZ can or Z71 is put on the same mount then added? or are they 2 different pieces.

I've been wondering the same thing. If I could "snap" it out from the front side I was gonna take it to a vinyl sign shop and have them cut some vinyl overlays out of black or red vinyl for contrast. I hope somebody chimes in. There's no way I'm gonna take the grille out to do it.

I know that the LTZ is placed on the honey comb grill and has a plastic retaining clip with 2 plastic prongs on the rear side that snap together. Its real easy to remove...... The only issue is you have to take the entire grill out to do so. Unless you have really long arms with more joints then the average human your in luck. Me and another guy here did a write up on how to remove the grille. About 1hr total time to remove and reinstall.

The Z71 emblem did not have any retainer clips on it. Just two alignment pins and 3m tape. It was easy to remove, but my Z71 grill was already removed and replaced with the chrome grill.

Good to know. I found an Z71 grill on Craigslist. Asked the guy if the emblem was easy to remove and he said it looked permanent.

Can this emblem be removed and look good? I wouldn't be putting any other emblem in its place. I just like the look of that grill insert more.

It can be removed easily (took me all of ten min to remove and insert on new grill), unfortunately it would not look good if you took it off and put nothing in it's place as there is a 1.5 by 3" (approx) solid mounting surface that has two holes in it. If it were me, I would replace the Z71 with an LT emblem in your case. in the below pic you can see the mounting surface lower right side.

I put my fingers through the grille and mashed around on the backside as I pulled on the front side until I came off. Nothing broke but it's a weird clip (the way it works). If you take it off you'll see what I'm talking about. I was gonna color-match it but the grille looked so clean after I got it off that I decided to leave off. Anyhow, I hope this will help somebody out there.

There are threads with pictures about this. It's just adhesive, no holes.

Will the bracket holding on the z71 emblem work on a honeycomb grill? I wan't to replace the black plastic strips with the chrome honeycomb but I want to keep my z71!
