2014 Silverado Tow Package Exterior Audible Reverse Beeping

Hi all!

 

I recently took delivery of a 2014 Silverado with tow package, etc. When putting the truck into reverse, I get a very loud beeping on the exterior of the truck. I wasn't sure if this was standard on all new vehicles or just from the tow package being installed. I cannot determine how to disable this as it could be an addon from the dealer. I wanted to check with you all first and see.

Does it have rear park assist? The senors in the bumper?

You mean the beeping big trucks or old people's cars make when backing up?

I don't believe it has parking rear assist, I don't have the button below the console for it.

 

Not sure what the big truck/old people beeping is. Does not sound like the big rigs, but is doing the same thing. Beeeeep Beeeeep Beeeeep.

Try backing up towards a wall. If the beeps get faster as u get closer to the wall your have rear park assist. U can also tell by looking at the rear bumper. If u have,I believe 4 nickel sized dots then u have park assist.

 

Or are in saying when u put it in reverse the truck omits a loud beeping noise like a warning noise for others?? If thats the case I wonder who put that on?

Beeping does not get faster, it's a loud audible beep on the exterior. I bet it's the dealer installed tow package. It has a trailer brake installed under the steering wheel (aftermarket). I will go back and have them disable the sound. Thanks all, I wanted to make sure it wasn't something standard.

Yeah, that's kinda funky. I haven't seen them installed on a passenger vehicle in such a long time.
