hi everyone, I have a big problem with the wipers on my 2011 GMC sierra 1500 5.3L 4X4 ext cab. This day I got off work started the truck, let idle for about 5 min and turned on the wipers in preparation for leaving. the wipers made one pass on the window and when they started the next pass they stopped and that's where they stayed. Ive tried everything and cant figure it out. when I turn the key on and try the wipers with the hood up I can hear the relay click, so I don't think its the switch. I checked the fuses, there good. I bought a new motor tried that, still doesn't work. I checked the plug going to the wiper motor with a mulimeter and it reads voltage. Don't know what else to do. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Are the wiper arms stripped? Check where the arms bolt to the motor linkage.

checked yep, all good. turn on the wiper switch and all I hear is the relay click and nothing else happens. no noise at the motor, nothing

hmmmm, try jumping the relay if you can to make sure that's not the problem. Just because its clicking doesn't means its working correctly. Also do the wipers not work on any speeds at all, not even the fastest?

You will have to look at the diagram on the relay. Most have a picture showing the constant hot, the bridge, etc. Take a small section of wire and jump the constant hot to the wiper motor control side. Have the wipers on during this.

Or do it the easy way and take a relay from somewhere else that you know works and is the exact same and replace the wiper motor relay and see if it works.

Does everything else on the stalk work? Like the high beams, windshield washer, turn signal etc?

yes everything else works fine, high beam, windsheld washer everything, just not the wipers. If the relay was gone would I still be getting power to the connector that plugs into the wiper motor?

Been awhile since i looked at a gmt900 fuse block but i'm thinking there isn't a relay. Should just be the steering column stalk - fuse - wiper motor. You already replaced the wiper motor and checked the fuses in the engine bay and on the side of the dash. Only thing left is the wiper stalk on the steering column.

Good thing is they're only about $30 on rock auto.

any idea what the clicking would be when I turn on the wiper switch? because as soon as I turn the wiper switch on theres a click sound like a relay. I can't seem to find the relay either........

There is no clicking on my 2011 when i turn on my wipers, i would guess an internal problem with the stalk switch.

but if there was a problem with the switch, why is there voltage at the connector that plugs into the wiper motor. If I put the switch in low and check the connector I get reading two lines and when I put it on hi I get reading on different lines...........im lost

When you had the motor out, did you grab a hold of the wiper blades and see if they moved? Or, before connecting wiper arm to motor, run the wipers with the switch and see if the motor was working? You can tell if it is working by looking at the shaft the wiper arm attaches to on the actual motor. Is the truck very far out of warranty? Some 2011 trucks are still under bumper to bumper warranty.
