beachtaco Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Does anyone else's Silverado chime or alert some how that your parking brake is still on when you drive away? I've done this 3 or 4 times so far, both going over 20 miles on the highways before I noticed it. I plan on stopping by the dealer tomorrow to have it checked out. I read the manual that it's suppose to chime and light is suppose to flash.
fondupot Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 So you're forgetting to take the parking brake off? There's a light in the dash that says its on. How can you drive 20 miles down the road without noticing. Start paying attention.

If his truck is like mine, there is a intermittent issue of the brake light either not coming on or staying on when the parking brake is set. I have had a handful of instances in my truck where I set the parking brake and get the light but to only come out the next day to get in and there is no parking brake light illuminated from being set the night before. I plan to get mine looked at when I take it in for the first service but I suspect it is ether a switch issue and/or something with the cluster and the CAN bus software. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/152662-2014-owners-having-issues-with-their-truck/page-46?do=findComment&comment=1390457

Start paying attention. easily, the light must turn off. i only notice the light during the startup or after I engage the parking brake initial. This last time, I know the light was off since my buddy laughed at me when I told him that the parking brake was engage when we got back from dinner and we looked at the dash with no light on.
fondupot Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Well that's a different story. I'll have to investigate on my truck as well.
bdbake01 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Good luck on the issue. Honstly, I don't remember the last time I used the p-brake on any vehicle. Probably should, I know. I'd have probably driven this thing 50k miles before I would have noticed any issue.
beachtaco Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 I tested out the warning chime and display this morning. I don't know, it was the first time I heard it chime and saw the message pop up on the DIC. I have no clue. I only use the parking brake when I park it on a slope like my driveway. Funny thing that, my other 2 vehicles are manuals and I never forget the parking brake on those.
