"Help" removing rear Blocks 2010 silverado

Not sure what is going wrong, just watched a video on how to do it.

 

1. I used my floor jack to lift rear of truck up,

2. placed stands under axle on both sides so wheels are off the ground.

3. I removed the u bolts and then used jack with block of wood in from of axle to lift up on springs

 

but it lifts the whole rear of truck off of stands instead of seperating the springs from the block. What am I doing wrong?

 

Any advise on what is wrong?

remove the lower shock bolt and then pull down the axle. Do one side at a time.

Tried it but no luck. Ilt still raises the truck off of the jack stands for some reason.

_{Sounds to me they fused together, there's a pin on the bottom of the block and a female hole on top of the block where the leaf spring center pin goes into sometimes they fuse together, hit the blocks with a hammer to break them loose.}

I can push down on the axle and get them to seperate when its lifted under the springs but it is there is so much preasure I can't swap the block out and push the axle down at the same time.

 

It really wiered how much tension there is. I really thought it would be as simple as others said it would be and on the video . I'm just about to throw the towell in.......

Have you checked the rear main brake line that goes up to the frame? Did you disconnect both "U" bolts on the left and right side of the axle? If one side is sill tight it wont let the loose side drop.

 

You need to jack the truck up till the rear wheels are off the ground about 2-3" then put jack stands on the frame of the truck both left and right sides and let it rest on them and make sure the rear tires are still 2-3" off the ground then take your floor jack and put it under the rear diff cover plate jack truck up to relieve pressure some without raising truck off jack stands, remove both "U" bolts left and right sides 4 total, once done lower floor jack down some to disconnect rear axle from blocks but be careful axle will tilt some. This is the way I have always done it.

 

If your putting taller blocks in then make sure rear tires are about 6-7" off ground before you drop the axle.

Got it done, but man it didn't go smooth. Had to push down on the axle while my wife pulled the old block out and the slide the new one nt. All I could do to push it down, I probally should have loosend both sides at the same time but what I could find online it said one side at a time.

 

Anyway it done and I also put my new Bilstien 5100's on . Very happy the way it looks.

Got it done, but man it didn't go smooth. Had to push down on the axle while my wife pulled the old block out and the slide the new one nt. All I could do to push it down, I probally should have loosend both sides at the same time but what I could find online it said one side at a time.

 

Anyway it done and I also put my new Bilstien 5100's on . Very happy the way it looks.

They are great! , Glad to have everything done. I went with the ones designed for a 4" lift.
