What's Wrong With Factory Nav?

Im not sure why you are asking. But I have a nav and I'd like to know what the shortcomings are. Why are you asking?

I'm not accusing you of anything but my concern if the back and fourth continues it'll just turn into a fight. As long as people stay respectful it'll be fine but these things have a way of going south.

No complaints with my nav. I'm glad my truck came with it and I will get it on my next truck.

I can't get Google Maps on my Motorola RAZR flip phone! I'd have to spend at least $30 more per month for a data plan, which makes even less sense. Six months of that data plan paid for my Garmin. That makes sense to me!

If the phone were used only for the purpose of a GPS, I would concur. The fact that it's used for much more (work, email, camera, GPS, banking, video conferencing, games, movies, mobile computer, calculator, alarm, access to documents on cloud, mobile print device, bible, scanner, flashlight, bar code reader, contacts, conversion table, gas locator, golf course score table, hotspot, and oh yeah angry birds, lol) I would still have the phone, the cost of data that work pays for would still be there, Google Maps still free. Either way, whatever makes a person comfortable.

I agree. I couldn't pry my wife's iphone out of her hands. But since I retired, I can just drag my rocking chair over to the computer and do my puting. When we're on the road, we have my wife's iphone. Even though when I ask to use it she gives me the "look" like "aha, you still wish you had yours don't you?" They're definitely useful.

That's always a possibility in forums where opinion is being expressed. And opinion is about 99.9% of the posts on this forum. Some people can't disagree without name calling.

But I really am interested in the capabilities and shortcomings of the nav since I have one and haven't used it much. I did use it on the way home from work since I started this thread. I used the voice commands. Seemed to work. Again, it put me halfway down my street instead of at the end where my house is, just like every other gps of any type, including my Android phone with Google maps. The DIC center screen displayed next turn data when I changed the main screen to play with the radio.

That's funny as beck to me. I can hardly wait to retire and get my rocking chair in a few years.

Yeah it's a great life. It'll be even better in 2+ years when my wife retires. I feel guilty waving goodbye in the morning as she leaves for work. But I get over it!

...when her tail lights go around the corner, I'll bet. LOL
