Hey guys,

I gotta question about my company truck its a 2011 Silverado 2500 with a 6.0 liter and 150000 miles and im guessing a 6L90E? Heres my problem. I towed a load of about 7500lbs 350 miles without one single problem, I get back to my yard, back the trailer into its spot, and pull around and put it in park set with the truck running for about 5 or 10 minutes put the truck in reverse and had no reverse until i revved it to about 2500 rpms same in drive. I checked the transmission fluid while running and in neutral it was completely full and didnt seem burnt. I suspect the transmission is toast, but i thought someone here may have some advice any would be appreciated. Thank you

From the sounds of it, you're trans is not shot. Just the reverse band is probably toast! My 4l80e had the same problem. I was advised when going in reverse act like there's an egg under the accelerator. Reverse is the weak point!!! I paid around $900 to get mine fixed. Hope this helps!!

you must test your truck, with Tech2 scan tool. check all solenoids

what i meant was reverse is finished ,,,,we were told at tranny school that reverse is very difficult for a transmission to do .....they dont like it lol

his is under warranty most likely and he'll get a tear down and a build and get 'er barkiin again

6L90's don't have bands, that transmission is all clutches (much stronger). Since a delayed engagement is your only symptom, I would suspect an electric/electronic issue.

Could be a valve issue or a clutch pack issue. These transmissions have no bands and are all clutch to clutch style as others have stated. Honestly to see one with an issue or out of a truck...atleast where I work, I have never seen one dropped for repair or replacement, 6L80 and 6L90. They are very stout units. Only things I think I've ever sold for them is filters.

My 2011 silverado 2500 work truck did THE EXACT thing a few days ago.  What did you figure was the problem and how much to fix it?   I had just towed maybe 6000# 20 miles and went to back up and exact same thing happened.   Thanks.
