2014 Silverado - Resetting the average MPG. Help!

Hi all,

 

I can reset the 'best' mpg. But I cannot reset the average mpg. The owner's manual says to press the 'checkmark' button on the steering wheel and it resets the average. No it doesn't !!!! Anyone else having this problem and/or know a solution? That reset is important to me. (my braindead dealership had no clue).... Thx!

Remove you neg battery cable for a few minutes, it will reset.

^{Do I have to remove the battery cable every time I want to reset the avg mpg? That makes no sense. Every car I've had before this one had a way to reset the avg mpg without disconnecting cables, And I like to reset every now and then. And every vehicle ('ve owned before this one )had an easy way to reseset avg mpg. The owners manual say to press he check mark and it will reset, but it doesn't.}

I don't think you can. You can select 25 miles, and it will, effectively, reset every 25 miles.

No, it's a running average of your last 25 miles.

I hold the check button down until it resets, not just press and release.(20111 GMC)

I hold my check button also and it resets (2012 2500HD), should be the same on a 2014, they are the same as 2011+.

I think he has the newer body style 14, which is the same dic as my moms equinox, you cant reset that average
