New Timken hubs - Can I use original ABS sensor?

I got my new TImken hubs in yesterday and I noticed one of the ABS wires at the sensor was crimped pretty bad. The other one is fine. I want to exchange it because I don't want to take a chance of the wire being damaged. My problem is I was going to change them out tomorrow and if I have to return it to swap it out, I won't get it until Saturday if I'm lucky.

So can I reuse my factory ABS sensor on the new Timken hubs? I would probably put a dab of silicon around it to keep it watertight just in case.

I wouldn't, just wait till Saturday for a new one if you can. Changing it over to the new hub there is a good chance you will end up with low speed unwanted ABS activation

That was my concern. The description on Rockauto say something about the sensor on the Timken hub being a smaller sensor so it probably won't work but wanted to check first.

I only paid $113 for the hub assembly on rockauto, under $230 for the pair with the 5% discount. I called my local part store and they actually have one in stock but they want $300 for the thing. How in the world is there such a big price difference? I know they have to make some money but wow.

Here is a picture of the crimped wire. It's hard to tell but it's almost like it's been heat crimped.

Crimped on the left, good one on the right.

Yeah buddy. This is one of those "might as well do it right since its off" sort of thing. Might as well wait. Much as it sucks.
