Weather bands

Out of all the newer safety items on newer vehicles, why don't vehicle radios come with the weather band frequencies/channels? Is there a way to program them into mylink? I already receive alerts.

XM has weather and traffic stations for major metropolis areas and if you get Navweather it will give you forecasts and alerts for your current location. It won't give you detailed weather maps like smartphones apps tho...
