The RF tire thing might be a band-aid but I must say ever since dropping down to the 20s and having quality tires installed with all numbers below 15RF, the truck is buffeting free. This is coming from someone that couldn't ride more than 15min in the truck before getting headache and sick feeling due to the horrible pressure/noise. And I was only days away from taking a substantial loss and trading in on a '14 Denali. I am not certain it will stay this way but 6k miles to date and still satisfied. The funny thing is, I am almost positive one or more roof bows are not attached as there seems to be way too much free play in sheet metal tapping roof but at this point I'm not having them touch the roof.

 

Regardless, these trucks are way too sensitive and I'm sure multiple items can cause the issue.

How far in the 20s someone recommended 33

I recently purchased a 2015 Tahoe PPV and have the cabin noise issue as well as road vibration at higher speeds. I bought this in Ohio and live in Texas and am being routed through the normal channels (Take it to the closest dealer, let them troubleshoot, blah blah blah). Is there ONE instance where someone has had this issue resolved completely? I am distraught at thinking about having my Tahoe in and out of the shop, ripped and torn to shreds only to have the issues still exist.

 

Is there any hope?

OK ,

hi every one .

UPDATE......

I just got a call from my dealer to try my car after they change the propeller shaft. and resealed the roof bows . it took so long cuz the part delayed . any way i tried it and i was shocked it's a huge different NO vibration at all i went until 135 km .

and for buffeting sound they found one of the three bows is unattached the front one but they did them all , to be honest the sound i think is still there but it's much better 90%.

am glad that they could fix some thing finally i will drive without shaking :driving: .

​and here i want to say something that i was so nervous wen they told my the procedure for the roof and how they will tear every thing down i expect it ganna be mass but it was the conversely it was so clean and professional.

am sorry guys i was wrong .!!!!!!

i tested my car for two days straight on high speed road and i found the problem still present .after all what they done for two weeks long :-( i just took it back to the "dealer " and they told me they ganna balance ties again lets see what they can do ??

i know on thing that the company all they do is give customers "Tylenol " to stay silent .what a shame

My vehicle is built and on the train (Arlington to Jacksonville), so it should be in by the middle of next week.

 

I'll be taking it for an extensive test drive before signing anything. Just to make sure I'm paying attention to all the right things, please let me know if the following is what I'm looking for (and hoping not to find):

 

> Vibration at mid speeds (35-50)

 

> Noise at highway speed. Someone described it as the odd sound when a single rear window is open - choppy.

 

Is that about it?? I only want this vehicle if it does not start with issues.

One week before arrival, you still have enough time to peel back this thread and read about pressure, buffeting, and droning before your test drive. You will also find in this thread that some issues didn't begin until a few thousand miles later.

Lift - I was referring to the size of wheels (20s) not air pressure. I had the oem22s at one point but when I ordered new michelin tires, I changed them out to the oem denali 20s. I also lowered psi to around 33psi and that has improved the harsh ride to some degree.

2 Exhaust dampers are related to the booming

What's related to the ear pressure?

 

Has the pressure problem disappeared with the correction of the vibration or is that a separate issue.

Is that related to the feeling or sound like the back windows open. Jus trying to figure out what to look for while shopping

buffeting [ear pressure] --> tires [i'm certain of this and you can read my previous posts in this thread why]

vibrating --> rear end

booming --> exhaust dampers

Did you change the bridge stones or jus balance them. Found one without the booming or vibrating but did exhibit a lil ear pressure

My Denali had the stock 20" wheels with standard issue Continentals. It took *6* replacements before they could road force balance them all to 15# or less. That was the day that buffeting/pressure disappeared.

 

When I put my winter shoes on [bFG KO2s mounted on 20" GMC AT wheels], the buffeting returned, albeit less severe [the worst one had a 18# RF]. I went back to my tire dealer who spent about an hour road force balancing them. 2 had to be replaced and they're all under 12#. No more buffeting! My Continentals are back on and the Yukon is quiet.

 

If I were buying one off a lot, I'd negotiate a set of Michelin in and demand that they're RF balanced to 15# or less. As soon my Continentals even look at me in the wrong way, they'll be replaced with Michelins. Likely the "Michelin Premier LTX" as I only need 3 season duty.

 

40mph and 70mph were the buffeting sweat spots in both my Yukon and the 2015i Suburban rental I had.

Not permanently. Mine took about 2k miles to show up. After being fixed it probably took another few thousand miles to return.

 

I will say the the Dynamat applied by my dealer to the roof cured the booming especially that associate with the V4 mode. All of the extra foam/glue has reduced the buffeting even after the rearward bows have come detached, but in the end, the roof won't stay attached so be it vibrating car parts or non-smooth road surfaces, the truck will buffet.

 

If you have a vibration issue, that will need to be addressed regardless since unbalanced spinning parts will be a problem unto themselves.

 

Has there been ANYONE that has had these issues completely resolved

    • You could try a used 1, they used that engine in the Astro vans, Plenty of them in the boneyard. Look for a wrecked or rotted 1 so the chance that it was scrapped for that reason and not a mechanical issue will be greater
    • Google converting 98 4.3 spider injection to carburetor if all else fails. 
    • My centre console USB ports haven’t been working and the one in the glovebox is starting to act up. When I plug my phone into the cord the radio will go black and stop playing, and the CarPlay is inconsistent.   I checked the fuses and they were fine. I changed the USB port out and still nothing. Hoping for some advice on what I should be looking at.  
    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
