IS THIS A PART??

Found this on driver side floor mat Friday. I'm assuming it came from somewhere under the dash. Measures around 1" x 5/8" x 1/4".

 

Hoping it's unimportant, but another trip to the dealer for piece of mind.

 

Any ideas?

looks like an upholstery staple

I had the exact same part fall out on my first 14. Curious now.. I felt mine fall out because it hit my shin

Yep, looks like some type of staple. Anyone ride over there lately? Could have been wedged in the tread of their shoe and fell off in your truck?

Looks like a clip to lock a cable end, probably have a similar one where the shift cable passes through a bracket on your transmission. I know that a similar appearing clip is used for this purpose on the Allison transmission. Perhaps it came off an under dash cable park brake???

I thought that too at first,but there are no marks on it anywhere.

I looked around under there, but couldn't see anything that looked "out of place". Then again, I have no clue what I should be looking for.

Its the lock for the transmission shift cable. Should slide in. Look at cable on transmission end. Same setup.

I have things falling apart under my steering column. They actually had to order parts for it. If you tap the panel under there, does it make noise?

No noise. One thing I'm glad about is my truck being rattle free.

Truck is one week old and I find this clip on my floor mat...I'm like wtf?

Prolly just didnt get seated all the way at the factory.

 

Throw some electrical tape over it for precaution...
