Clunk on Deceleraton

You can learn to avoid it for the most part. It only happens when I'm driving needlessly aggressive so... helps keep tickets away and MPGs up.

This issue occurs most often when you have a 4X4 model. I have never experienced it on any 2WD Chevy... ever.

Has anyone been experiencing a very loud clunk noise on decel? I have read in other posts it is the trans or torque converter learning how you drive. It just doesn't seem normal.

i have 2013 gmc sierra same problem since day one. my dealer claimed never heard of problem, took in several times, then they heard of it but could not replicate so would not do anything. told me they drove 50 miles but trip was only 17 miles. i asked to escalate to regional, have been told no regional person will talk to me because they do not consider this daily clunk a problem. now dealership tells me there is a aftermarket fix, but they cannot help me with it. hung out to dry

Does the issue also seem more pronounced when the truck is cold? It does for me... seems like after the truck is warm it doesn't bang and clunk as much..

mine happened mostly after driving 5 to 10 miles, now at 23000 miles it seems to happen a lot more

I've noticed a clunk occasionally, mainly when driving slowly like in a parking lot. Usually it's been while the engine/drivetrain is still cool. On mine it seems like its hitting hard going between V4 and V8 mode at those times.

Mine cluncks as well. Only 4200 miles on it. Super annoying. Going to the dealer for normal servicing next week and will add it to the list of things to address.

Good luck they told me it didn't do and then said it was normal best part is they never drove it. Lol

I have a 2014 Sierra 1500 with a little over 4200 miles on it.

 

I get this clunk at times too specially when I coast at about 20-25 MPH and accelerate gently, I've notice this when the truck is warm.

 

Aside from the above topic, I've noticed since I bought the truck back in mid March that every time I put in a gear other than park or neutral, I get a click noise from the tranny when the gear kicks in, does anyone get this or knows of a forum about this topic?

Mine clunks occasionally. All GM Trucks do it. Even my old 2WD work truck did it. they clunk. GM doesn't care to engineer it out. Even on the new truck platform. I have the G80 locker so I tell myself it's cool b/c I have a locker.

I don't drive aggressively and my new truck clunks too on a daily basis, mainly hear it after I let off the gas when driving on local roads between 25 to 35mph. On this one stretch cruising along that is mainly flat ground, I'm lightly pressing the gas pedal to maintain speed and then it clunks when I take my foot off the gas but then also clunks again when I'm back on the gas. Are you saying that's normal? My 09 F150 6-speed never clunked daily like this, only every once in a while.

The clunks from the 2000 era were from the slip yoke for the rear drive shaft in the transfer case. They made a revised nickel slip yoke to fix the clunking. I plan on getting one in the spring and a new slip yoke seal takes away the 70 mph vibrations on the 2000's

Mine does this as well. A lot of times when it clunks i hear a popping noise at the same time from behind the firewall area.

My truck does this as well, sometimes hard enough to surprise me and my passengers. It usually is more present when I am driving slowly.
