6.0 vs Dmax General Performance

That's why my question said HD 6.2, I would assume GM would make the engine suitable for 2500/3500 trucks (iron block, no AFM, etc..).

Maybe a modern version of the 8.1 would fit the bill to bridge the gap between gas and diesel.? It would probably be too thirsty..

Back on topic of the OP, for driving the truck around unloaded I think the 6.0 and Dmax would feel pretty similar performance-wise.

Load them up, tow more than a couple thousand pounds, or tune the Dmax, and the difference in performance would be much greater.

I think GM would stick with aluminum block to increase the FGVRW but I am positive you would see different pistons used to lower the compression to allow 87 octane which means less power.

And a twin turbo

Optimistic much?

GM makes their money on the diesel, notice they do not push the gas option at all. It is easy to have a powerful gas motor but it better not run with the diesel as that is their bread and butter.

I can wish, can't I? A twin turbo 6.0 would be awesome in the 2500 and 3500 platform.

My wife drives a 2015 Explorer sport with the 3.5l twin turbo plenty of HP and Torque for this particular platform (350 and 365). Imagine what the 6.0 would be with twins. Just dreaming....

I am a gas guy myself, I will take mine in a 7.0 LS series based motor with VV-T, DI, and twin turbo's... Might as well throw in a beefed up 8-speed as well.

One thing I truly like about the 6.0L, among other things, is the flex fuel capability. I used to run E85 most of the time in my 2013 1500, but since I got the 2500, the price spread between E85 and regular hasn't been that great. I am using E85 in the 2500 now. The 6.0 seems to be set up better for E85 than the 5.3 I had before. With the other pickup, the mpg spread was about 3-4 mpg lower with E85. With the 6.0L, the mpg spread has been only about 2 mpg lower with E85. Even with that lower mpg, given that the cost of E85 is about 50 cents a gallon lower than regular in my area, I am saving about 2 cents a mile on fuel using E85 in this pickup. That could change as prices fluctuate seasonally. But it is the ability to use a wide range of fuels that makes the 6.0 a better deal, for me. And the 6.0, on E85, seems to have a little more pep to it.
