Question about buying a new truck

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am getting ready to buy a new Silverado 3500HD, Crew Cab, 4wd. The Dually I grew up with was a 1985 GMC High Seirra, Crew Cab, 454 and served my parents and myself very well for 790,000 miles, but it needs to be retired. So, I am looking for a new one and I am looking for some very specific features and options with the truck. What I am looking for is a Crew Cab, Duramax, Dually, with the LT trim and leather split front bench all wrapped up in Victory Red. My problem is, no one locally has one, and neither does anyone within a 4 hour drive of Kansas City. One of the local dealers tried passing off a 3500, Crew Cab, single rear wheel in Red, but that is not what I am after. Today I resumed my search online, and found the exact truck I am after in Indianapolis. Should I ask the dealer if they can get this truck, or should I just buy the truck direct from the dealer in Indy? What do you guys think?

Thank you,

Jon

Damn, 790,000 miles? Wow!

The Indy dealer will probably be cheaper. Your dealer will have to mark it up some over what the Indy dealer will transfer it out for plus transport getting it to the KSC area.

I would ask your local guy what he can do on that truck. Your probably going to want to service it there anyway. Plus, the Indy dealer has no reason to want to give up a truck to a person buying so far away. hes going to make you pay for it since thats the only profit he will ever see from you.

Thats my thought..

Dang, with that many miles on it GM might put you in a commercial or buy the truck for their museum. That's awesome. Lol

Thank you for the advice everyone! I contacted my local dealer, and after some discussion we settled on a pretty great price on the truck, no delivery fee (they decided to waive it) and it will be there and ready for pick up Friday night. Helped that we bought my wife's Malibu there a few months ago, and were very happy to get a return customer. I test drove another 3500 at the dealer just a little while ago, and I am very impressed at how far the 3500HD's have come.

Yep! 790,000 miles! Needless to say, that truck made me a die hard Chevy fan.
