Custom Tune Question?

Can anybody 100% confirm whether or not a custom tune can be seen in your trucks computer. I've conferred with BlackBear, and they so no, but I've read a lot on this matter and still can't seem to get a straight answer. I'm not even really looking for a true tune per say, I just want to remove the govenor and AFM.

I think the dealer can tell for sure. I would not mess with the ECM if I cared about the warranty.

Yes it can be seen if they look for it.

My tune shop would put it back to factory settings if need be before dealership appointment.

I guess I should have stated that originally. I've been told that they can't see it as long as it's put back to stock. I don't want anything that would compromise my warranty, it seems these new truck really need them.

yep it killing me too ,if they cant see the tune they can see how many times the ecm has been flashed

I thought about it a little myself, I came up with this. The most expensive part effected is the engine, the odds are slim to none the engine will fail. If it does and they see the flashes they have to prove the tune did it. If you use a canned tune Im sure they would help with the fight especially if you tell them you blog on some well read GM sites, such as this one. The different between being tune verse not being tune was worth it to me even with a canned tune. This is the fifth truck I used a canned tune on nothing but good times.

The ECM has a flash counter, it will be seen.

 

And with a blown motor all GM has to do is show you tuned the engine side of the system and then leave the ball in your court. Do you really think you have enough money to fight them (GM) in court and win? You will spend more money fighting them than the repairs would cost.

 

Look back at the Ford Mustang 5.0 owners, they were tuning their cars and leaning them out causing the #7 cylinder to go lean and pop. Those owners were using canned tunes and were still on the hook for repairs.

 

As said don't tune it unless you are ok with paying for the repair bill.
