2014 Silverado radio, is this normal?

I'm new to the forum and hope someone can shed some light on this. Whenever I start the truck the radio comes on, even if I shut it off prior to shutting the engine off, On the next start the radio comes on again. I'm talking about actually shutting the radio all the way off, not just muting it. I shut the power off and a big blue analog clock shows up on the radio screen but the next time I start it up the radio is on again in the standby / muted mode. I can't find anything in the manual or the internet about this. Anyone else's radio acting the same way?

There is no way to fully turn the radio off. It's strange.

 

But you can adjust the "Maximum Start-up volume" down to zero so that its muted or at least very quiet, when you turn on the truck. Its a setting somewhere in the menus.

Sorry, I left that part out. When it comes on after starting the engine it's already muted if I previously shut it all the way off. I've already set the start up volume for when I don't shut it off prior to stopping the engine, then it comes on like I would expect it to. I guess If that's the way it works it's acting normally, just seems odd to me.

It appears to be working properly. I have never tried to set the max start volume to zero but mine is set very low for when the truck starts. The "power button on these trucks is essentially just a mute button even though it does power off the majority of the radio. I found this confusing too the first time I put my programmer in my truck.

Yes they run more like a computer/tablet now so it's always on.

 

So if you need to reboot it you have to pull a fuse or disconnect the battery.

 

I just did this as the radio would not shut off. It stayed on past the power retention, wouldn't turn off with the doors or key.

 

So I disconnected the battery and it hasn't happened since.

 

Just FYI the radio's are a little buggy...

Press and hold the power button about 5 seconds to completely turn it off.

Mine stays off if you turn it off to the point of seeing just the clock as you stated. I turned it off yesterday and restarted the truck several times including this morning and it was still off not just muted. I have the 4.2" screen.
