Have you considered powder coating your rims black? I only ask because I have and I am torn. (I really botched the photoshoping here haha)

If you are considering doing it, then plastidip them first. Give it a few weeks and see if you still like the idea of having the rims black. If you do decide you like it, then peel off the dip and get them powder coated. If you decide you don't like the rims being black, then hey, at least you didn't spend $300+ on an irreversible mod

That's too much work haha. That's what photoshop is for. Get an idea, sit on it for awhile and then do it or not.

But still. Nothing beats getting to see the idea in person [emoji106] I've photoshopped different paint ideas on my truck. Didn't like the idea, tried it with dip, and then I decided I liked it.

Personally, I would try dipping them. Just so you can see what it'll look like in person before you decide to actually do it.

I wondered what it might look like with Black wheels.

I will be dipping them gloss black this spring/summer, at least I want to.

Just in case anyone thought I was lying about the mirrors... here's the boxes.

I also found that the mirror studs are M6x1.0 thread, so I stopped at my local hardware store and bought some nuts and washers.

Also, my new headlight bulb setup showed up...

VLED 4500lm 5k LMZ LED bulbs w/ caps from Jon A... can't wait to install these when I have access to some warmer temps or a heated garage. Temps are dropping down in the single digits.

Oh and for you dog owners, I came home to this...

My pup Wrex apparently was bored and decided to tear up my fiancée's center piece project for our wedding... he's in trouble. His partner in crime Cookie(her dog, not mine) most likely didn't have anything to do with it. Dogs... gotta love em!

I wanted to post up what I'll be doing with my caps from Jon A to seal them up.

I got some Butyl Rubber tape on Amazon, a 30ft roll for around $11-12 IIRC that I was going to use to seal up the HID wiring to my factory caps after drilling holes through them, but I decided against using the HIDs.

With the LED setup, all components can fit inside the housing and the holes in the caps are not needed.

So I put a ball of the butyl rubber into the grommets supplied by Jon, and sealed up the hole(this is starting to sound weird lol). The pictures will show what I mean.

Wondering if the grommet was really sealed to the cap, I rolled some of the butyl into a small rope and ran it around the outside diameter of the installed grommet on the inside of the cap

This should seal out any moisture.

The butyl tape is tacky, and very much like a HD silly putty for those of you who haven't used it.

Might possibly install the LEDs on Saturday if I can get up to my moms house and use her space in the garage. I've got a heater to bring the temp up from the bone chilling temps that we'll be experiencing this weekend.

I'll post pictures of the install when I install them.

I'm also reconsidering my lift choice... damn options lol.

I like the look of this truck, although I'd leave the front chin spoiler on my truck.

Looks good, leveled or slightly nose down, and has the N-Fab side steps that I like.

I'm considering going with the RC2.5" kit, so that the rear gets brought up 1" to offset the 2.5" front rise slightly. But then again I would like to address the ride with the bilsteins... could go with the non lift front versions and do the RC lift at the same time.

Decisions, decisions...

Oh and as mentioned before, I'm also considering Plasti-Dipping my wheels gloss black this spring/summer. What do y'all think? Dropsix did some photoshop magic in previous posts above.

honestly, there are so many ppl with the 2.5" kit that a few are bound to run into some issues. I haven't seen many ppl with issues (relatively speaking to the number of ppl on this site who do have it). If the kit is installed properly then you shouldn't have any issues with it

I'd say go with the 2.5" level. Or at least order the 2.5" kit. That way you have the options to add the rear blocks or the extra .5" spacer up front. The dealership where we bought the truck did the level kit. Dad talked to them about which one to use while I was in class one day. Wish I would've been consulted because I would've done the 2.5" RCX level. Mine doesn't even sit level anymore It's going back to having a nose dive.

As far as your rims go, I personally think that your truck looks good with the All-terrain rims, but hey, its plastidip, its like $5 a can and you'll probably use 2-3 cans if you dip your wheels properly (i.e. put enough coats to keep it easily peelable and more durable). So you'll spend $15 to paint them black, so if you dip them and don't like it, hey, you spent $15 to figure out you don't like the rims black. If you like it, then you get to decide whether or not to keep them dipped or get them powder coated

Stupid me, I started looking at ReadyLift's 4" SST lift kit... I kinda like it, but haven't done any research on it.

I started to think maybe black wheels doesn't work with the silver and chrome. I do like the wheels as they are, just looking for something different I guess. I could always dip them fluorescent orange lol!

Just to confuse things on the lift opinion, myself and a guy I work with have the RC 2" front lift only. We just wanted to get the attached snow plow look gone. I like the simplicity of the single spacer in the front, super easy and cheap. They sit level. Another guy I work with has the RC 2.5 front/1" rear RC leveling kit. It has a nice rake to it, but not level. We have installed a few other 2.5/1 RC leveling kits on some customers trucks and they all had a good rake to them in my opinion. Now, I think at times that the 2" front only sit a little low in the back. My friend with the 2" front only is a farmer and has towed quite a few things already, and thinks it sits too low in back, esp when pulling a trailer. I like mine 95% more with the front lift, but sometimes the back seems a little low. So he is gonna install an add a leaf to his. I may just look for a just a little higher rear block, if I do anything. So I guess the moral of the story is if you want it very simple and cheap, get the 2" RC front lift and a small spacer in the back. That'd be the cheapest most simple way to do it and would look the best to me. Now the bilsteins would be pricier, but you should be able to adjust them at least almost 2" and then would have a nice rake with the front end up just enough. I don't want a lifted truck look, just a normal looking truck that doesn't look too low in front. Ok, done, sorry for the long post.

Thanks for the insight, it's good to get some more data points.

I really don't need to lift my truck, it won't add anything, but would detract from MPG's and longevity(maybe). I'd like to get close to leveling it, still want a slight rake. At $400 shipped the Bilsteins are not expensive at all, when compared to other platforms.

I have conflicting thoughts on this, but I think I'd like to raise the back an 1" or so, and the front about 2" to keep a 1" rake(I believe the factory take is around 2"). Bilsteins with a larger rear leaf block would do it and soften up the ride on this beast. Our roads are terrible. Expansion joints are like moguls here.
