Truck Month Incentives Question

I just received in the mail a voucher from my dealer telling me I can get a new Double Cab with the All Star package for $9500.00 off and a Crew Cab All Star package for $8500.00 off.

The dealer had a value your trade link on their site to see what your trade would be worth towards the purchase of a new truck. The trade value calculator showed my used truck to be worth about the same, (within a couple thousand dollars) of the new truck.

How can they give that much for a trade? Is this a tactic to get you into the dealer and then low ball you with an offer? If so, Is this actually legal?

If they would give me a fair amount for my trade, (The price the book says it's worth) I would likely upgrade to more accessories and a different color.

Yes its a tactic. You have to read the small print about the trade in offer. Usually it says something like "subject to appraisal by dealer" or something along those lines.

Bait and switch. I was just looking at the same voucher. Sounds to good to be true doesn't it. Plus they will throw vibration in at no extra cost.

The discount sounds really good (if it's for legit), but I wondered about the trade allowance. I suppose you're going to get the "I can't sell you a new one at this discounted price and give you the book value on yours".

Oh well, I'll wait and see what happens otherwise.

When I bought my truck in Dec. the trade in value in blue book was higher than I paid for my truck. Good luck with that. If you like to trade often buy when the discounts are big keep the miles under 12k per year, you might break even every two years. But this one is a keeper, I say that every two years too.

I seen discounts like:

$1,500 trade in assistance ---- Are they trying to give you additional money on top of your actual trade in?

$3,000 to $4,000 cash allowances - Comes on price list?

$750 option discount package - Comes off price list?

$3,500 Customers cash - Comes off price list?

Are these all rebates/discounts that come off the price of the vehicle? Can they all apply to buying it or leasing it and or plus additional money for trading in a vehicle? Any restrictions? How does it all work?

The dealership will usually deduct for miles, and any reconditioning your truck needs/has. I hear Chevy is pushing HARD to outsell Ford and Dodge this year in truck sales, so they are stepping up to the plate. If you have time, and are thinking about a new truck, might be worth your time to look into it further...

Just bought a new Silverado crew cab last week.......

Trucks are marked down to roughly supplier pricing. (MSRP-3250 or so)

Rebates are $3000 consumer cash + $1500 when trading in an eligible (newer than 1999) vehicle.

$750 option package discount is built into the window sticker. That is where they get the $8500.

I went looking last month and was offered a decent price for my trade. I ended up leaving. I went back last week and when they initially came back, they actually offered me $500 less on my trade than they offered 3 weeks prior. I managed to get the $500 back they originally offered plus another $1200.

As another poster said, they will say they can't give you as much on your trade with all the rebates. All I know is there seemed to be quite a few trucks on their lot and on the lots of nearby dealers. They need to get rid of them.

Does anybody think it will change much next month or should I do the deal now? I hate to buy now and then the price go down $1-2k. There aren't many deals out on Denalis right now.
