ANYONE HAD EXHAUST FLAPPER VALVE REPLACED?????

Wire or clamp the valve open, it does nothing other than to quite the noise of the exhaust system down. Mine has been gone since the first day I got the truck and that was 14,000 miles ago and I've never had one issue with anything on the truck.

I had the same issue. GM replaced my exhaust and the noise started again after about 200 miles. I've contacted the dealer and GM and they have not done anything to address the issue. I have my flapper clamped open. You have to decide which noise you dislike the most, the loud squeak every time it goes from V4 to V8 or the droning. I chose the squeak, it was really giving me a headache.

 

I tried the high temp lubricant and it does not work. The noise comes from inside the muffler.

 

Other than this issue I love the truck.

If the open flapper bothers you, After market exhaust would be my route. A touring level for me as opposed to the louder exhausts.

Yes, I think the Borla GM exhaust is in my future . . .

I appreciate everyone's input. My biggest gripe in all this is how I was put off by the so called "senior advisor" at GM Customer Assistance concerning this issue. I still can't believe they would blow off a faithful customer who has bought so many GM products over the years including 3 Tahoes. I didn't love the Tahoe that much that I was willing to try to put a clamp on the flapper or replace the exhaust at my own expense. So I have put it the whole matter to rest by trading in my 15 Tahoe with only 10,000 miles on it. I was able to swing a deal at my local Dodge dealer and didn't lose my shirt on a trade for a new 2014 Durango Citadel. Good luck and thanks again to the rest of you GM Truck owners who are dealing with the chirping flapper valve. I hope GM comes through for you in the end.

Traded the truck for a squeaky flappy valve... Some would be glad to only have that. Sounds fishy to me..

Hmmphf well my feelings are easily bruised too and by golly If mine starts squeaking and ONE person at the dealership says anything that might be interpreted as offensive to me personally I may just trade that puppy in too especially if I cannot find a pair of sunglasses that will fit in the overhead flip down compartment................enough is enough man, how can we possibly bear the pain LOL

I have the same problem that started after 500 miles but I will probably bolt it open. I miss the rour of my 2010 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L. Missed having a truck so just picked up 2015 sierra denali and this is the only problem that i have had thus far.

I also had mine replaced, just to have the new one do the same thing.gotten used to it and to me it sounds more of a whistle than a squeak.

The dealer performed the exhaust replacement under warranty on my truck. After a few days it was squeaking worse than befoe! I've since clamped the flapper open and so far so good.......

Shoot, I ran 2 sheet metal screws through mine at 600 miles. It's been wide open since.

My first mod was to have it cut out, $45 at local muffler shop. If you see what it actually is you would also cut it out, nothing but a huge restriction in the ex system.
