Off-Roading

Just curious, where do you guys go?  There arnt any off road parks near me

Indianapolis, IN.  I was just wondering if there are that many parks out there or if people just look for a field of mud?

Murrieta, California. In the summer its off to the mountain trails. In the winter it's exploreing the desert. The pacific is a 30 mile drive, The mountians of Big Bear are 90 miles, and the desert is just as close. Never snows but four wheel drive is a must  for me.

I live in Jersey and we have no where within 2 hourse to ride leagally.  There is PA and an over crowded park in South Jersey.  It really stinks.  So I just take my chances localy.

Well I live in the middle of a big ####ing desert so I really have no problems finding places to go.  I have more trouble finding time to go.  But I have been doing some off-roading on trails just south of here about every other weekend now.  My fun shooting spot is out in the local mountains, so I get to have double the fun when I go shooting. :thumb:

There is a place but for pickup trucks it isnt the best (badlands in attica)

 

also silver lakes in michigan looks fun

Ive heard of the Badlands.  I was thinking of heading up there this summer.  Why dont pickups fair good?

Well i have seen some pics of jeeps and it doens tlook pretty.  Mainly the trails and stuff arent very wide.  Also i heard there are alot of small rocks which will tear your truck up (flying rocks).  I emailed them and they said pickups are allowed but not recommended

 

Do you ever go to turkey run? Is there any offroading spots down there?  I go hiking/canoeing a few times a yr but never found any offroading (other than some dirt roads)

 

You would think with all the darn corn fields in indiana there would be some offroad spots

The only places I know of, which arnt legal, are IMI areas.  (the concrete company)  I was out there earlier today for about 20 min and it was real muddy.  First real mud for my AT's.  I love these tires!!

I was just at their site.  Some of the terrain does look a little rough for trucks that are not lifted, but I still think im going to try it this summer.  I have a friend with a Ford Ranger 4x4 off road and another with a Dodge Durango, this summer we wanted to head up there.  I think I will be the most capable but my friend with the ranger thinks otherwise.  Some of the open desert looking areas/trails look fine for trucks.

Over here in NC it is Telico on the boarder of NC and TN. It is a big place for the Jeep owners and it can be rough on the vehicle depending on the trail. Of course it is a five hour drive for me and I still live in the same state but on the East side just an hour from the coast.  Bad thing with a lot of trails is they are made for the smaller vehicle in and around the trees here. Took my little Sonoma once down a trail, thought it was going well till it turned into a 4 wheeler trail and the brush started to scrape the sides. Thank goodness for the buffing wheel. I did however go farther than a stock Wrangler. That surprised me. :thumb:  

 

Most try to run along the major power lines that go back into the vast areas of the state through other peoples property. Not really suppose to but I hear some doing it all the time. It is leagle for the power company but not the general public.
