The storm that hit us knocked out the power at our place, and about half a million homes and bussiness.  My works lights went out this morning at 8 and didnt come on until 3 this afternoon.  I got tired of wait so I left work to and am over at my friends house to spend the night.  They say it might take a week to get the power back on in some parts of the city.  Well im out for know.

In January of 2000, we got 24" of snow in one day.  My dad is a divisional manager at Tyson Foods in Hope, AR and they lost a total of 175 chickenhouses to the snow.  Ours fell but we were with another complex.  We wer out of school for 4 days over that.  Then, Christmas night, 2001, we got several inches of ICE.  It knocked the south to its knees.  We were out of electricity for nerly 2 weeks simply because the power companys couldn't get anywhere.  On top of that, while trying to clear the road by my house, I got my nose broke by a limb   .  It was BAD!!

There was a winter weather warning last night for about 1/4" of ice here about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh PA.  It was dry and 38 degrees this morning and rain and 64 this afternoon...  I feel bad for you guys (seriously)...  Ice storms suck!!!

Yesterday afternoon made me feel better I had to go pull a co-works Dodge that got stuck out of there drive way. That was fun.  I went over to my friends house thinking that we'd have power all night long there but sure as heck the power went off at about 6 so last night was another night with out power and heat.  I was so froze this morning that I couldnt take a shower.  I wish I had the thousand dollars that it costs for a gererator.  And no paco im not going to sell my lund.  #### Ice go away im tired of you.   sorry for the rant.  At least Im at work were its warm.

Mike, I lost power around 9am on wednesday and just go it back tonight. I lost one tree and a bunch of tree limbs. My back yard is covered and my front yard is burried. I lost the tree at the end of the driveway and most of the other one in the front yard. I think we are going to take 2 of the trees out of the back yard since they got hit the worst.

This is the first week I actually wanted to go to work. Atleast there were lights and heat. I forgot about the computer in the breakroom, until last night

I'm not far from Z71Adrenaline and I had no power for abuot 4-5 days, some had none for up to 5 weeks!  With an all-electric house, I had two Honda generators (6500 watts each)for 3 circuits. Can't run the heat pump and condensor and heat strips without a very large generator.  Had hot water, lights, could cook, and satellite tv! But, was not fun driving 180 miles, one-way, to Dallas to get the generators. I had to have about 75-100 trees taken down that had almost every limb broken by the ice. I will have to post my pics again. In some spots we had 18-20 inches of snow and then freezing rain.

Those people who ask me if I was going to the Yukon, when I bought cable chains, were calling to get me to come pull them out or transport them around.

Hopefully, you will make it through okay.  Makes you appreciate lights and heat!  I flipped light switches out of habit so much, but could not help it. I have upped my generating capacity and now have some solar powered/wind up radios and lights.

Sams Club has a 5000 watt, 6250 surge for 500 bucks.  That is the one I bought to run all my cattle equipment at fairs if needed, plenty of power to run the essentials in the house if we ever have an extended (over 12 hours) period.
