This is from a post I made over on the TRS HIDPlanet forum. Since this post, the dim (right) bulb decided not to work at all this morning on the way to work. Then, this evening, it was working, albeit as dim as it was for this test.

I called TRS this morning and directed the clerk to the HIDPlanet post. He said I need to swap the bulbs left to right to confirm it's the bulbs. I agreed to do it, but this is BS. They treat that Chinese stuff they sell at inflated prices like it was gold. They should be handing it out like candy in the name of customer service, IMO. I'm going to have to de-pin all the connectors to swap sides in addition to the disassembly of the air box. I'm seriously thinking about yanking the whole kit off and shoving it up their mail slot until I can do my full retrofit with genuine OEM bulbs, ballasts and projectors along with my own harness.

BTW, since I started looking into when I put this kit on, I found that I had bought it in July and probably didn't install it until August. So, 4 months, 2 bulbs, a couple relays.

So, I took some time tonight to go out and test the new bulb received from TRS last month vs the old bulb that has been in there since late spring or early summer of 2014. The wall is 45 ft from the headlight. The meter was placed in the center hotspot on both. The photos of the beam patterns were taken from a Nikon D7100 in full manual mode 1/100th sec @ f 4.0 for both, from the same location, while the opposite headlight was covered with a black jacket.

Whoops, spoke too soon. Have a buzzing from passenger side that I didn't have while testing last night.

Will take a look soon and follow up.

I had a buzz now two separate times when DRL are on. It lasts only a couple seconds and goes away. It also only did this after the truck has set for several hours with out running. I have the capacitor installed, tho not positive it's done correctly, but everything else seems to be working just fine.

ETA: I have a SLE.

Epic,

Mine has gone away now. I cleaned up the grounds, but think what solved the problem was switching the OEM input to the capacitor around. I think my mis-interpretation of the directions was that "harnesses with one OEM input should have red:red and black:black connections to the capacitor harness". I swear I read and implemented that correctly but I left the lights on and switched the polarity around and all buzzing stopped immediately.

Forgiven,

on the passenger side head light unit, there are 4 wires coming out of the dust cover - two individual power leads and the pass-through for the OEM input. that input connects to the 1' capacitor link which then connects to the passenger side harness which connects to your relay.

my first mistake was to try and flip the connector between the relay and the capacitor. what i did was flipped the harness coming out of the passenger side headlight going into the capacitor around. this seems counter-intuitive as the retention tab won't grab onto anything but it definitely solved my problem.

Did you just flip one of the connections around. Red/red, black/ black to red/ and red/black. Or did you reverse the entire capacitor link?

I had a buzzing sound one time for a little bit... never heard it again ...just that one time. Weird. Everything has always worked ok though - GMC SLT.

Epic did you find your answer in the other thread?

I just twisted the OEM plug 180* - see the graphic in the troubleshooting page here http://www.theretrofitsource.com/diy-installation-guides/morimoto-single-xenon-elite-system-guide.html.

Yes thanks. I flipped it last night but it was so overcast today that the DRL stayed off. I think the sun will be out tomorrow so I'll let you know if this fixed the buzzing noise.
