swapping slt headlights to a sle

Anyone know if the slt headlights with the led signature lights can be swapped to a sle models. Just bought my 2015 2500 sle and thought all the gmc came with them.

They will go in, no change in operation from what you already have though.

There have been a few threads asking this. Just use the search function or Google GM-trucks.com + your question if you don't find it by using the forum search engine.

However to answer your question, it is possible, but requires reprogramming, new headlight housings (obviously), and a new harness that the SLTs and ATs have that run the functions that make them different from the SLE headlights. This process can get expensive very quick and it seems like the dealers still haven't perfected the art of changing the headlights and the necessary parts. That's all I remember from the last time I read up on the subject at least.

Like Chris said, if you just change the housings and don't reprogram or switch the harness, your headlights will function just like they do right now.

I am making a P&P harness to do this, we made the same one for the camaro.

The SLE uses PWM for the DRL function. The DRL function on an SLE is through the headlight bulb itself, while the SLT uses a string of LED. Beside the difference in wiring harness (SLT harness has additional wires to power the LED string, SLE harness doesn't), the big problem lies in the fact that the PWM will cause unwanted operation of the HID during DRL mode and possibly premature damage.

Reprogramming BCM at this point seems dicey since everything is tied to the VIN.

There is a way around this, we have used it in the Gen5 camaros for 5 year now, with lots of harnsses out there in cars to this day.
