2014 Silverado rear end failure

My first brand new truck in my 41 years on this earth. I don't mind the occasional recalls, I understand they happen, I didn't even mind my rear end output driveline seal failing and leaking and getting that replaced. But my rear end failed at 17k miles? Wow. My truck is beyond babied and highway commuted and I have only put it 4wd once, just to test it after the transfer case recall. I really hope this is the end of the problems. I don't get it?!

Hints:

global economy

greed

cutting costs by eliminating crucial quality control checks during differential assembly

making differential components such as gears and bearings in third world countries using questionable quality control process and specifications

poorly trained people assembling differentials most likely in some third world country

You should be happy that you had this failure. This way GM has no choice but to replace the rear end under warranty. I hope this BS experiment in cost cutting costs GM a lot more than they think they saved.

What part failed? Was it the G-80? I have a spare with 3K miles on it that came out of the 14 9.5" in the shed if you want it.

I am not sure what failed. The dealer said one of the bearings failed. Thanks for the offer but they are redoing the rear end under warranty. Hopefully it will be done tomorrow.

If it makes you feel better same thing happened to my 2003...started with transmission revving between gears and rear end locking up around tight turns, 6k off warranty, transmission lost all but 1st gear, transfer case melted all bushings, and both rear outer axle bearings went. My shop cost still out $4500...10 years later and we still see same issues.
