2015 6.2 w/ 8-speed and NHT tow package no longer available?

I just tried to place an order for a 2015 1500 with the 6.2 and 8-speed along with the NHT tow package and my dealer said GM no longer offers the 6.2 w/NHT. I already knew that combination was on constraint. This is the first I've heard that it's no longer available. Has anybody else heard this?

Its just on constraint. It will be available in a few weeks I bet. Dealer doesn't know what they are talking about.

It's not available for sale right now, so they want you to buy another truck ;-)

They are wrong. I verified this. You can order a 6.2 with NHT in LTZ/SLT. Just go to another dealer.

 

However. There is a ful constraint on the NHT with 6.2 V8 (0%) and the 6.2 V8 by itself is in very limited by supplier (4%).

The dealer replied and said GM gave him the wrong information. He now says he won't be able to order it until at least March.

I have a 2015 SLT with the 6.2 and Max Tow Pkg at code 3000. It has a TPW of March 26.

FYI - I have tries numerous times to order the 2015 GMC Sierra with 6.2l(L86) and the max tow option(NHT), originally the dealers order screen said not available until Jan 2015, now it shows March 2015. You cannot get any "off road" package like Z71 or All Terrain package with the max tow option. You also cannot get the max tow option on the Denali. Not sure why this is, no one has been able to provide me an explanation. It would only make since to have the max tow option with the 6.2l. Exact GM order screen response" As of 10/01/2014, NHT with L86 expected availability Jan. 2015"

 

How were you able to place the order? I was there at the order screen and it would not let the order go thru??

I have a 2015 Sierra 1500 6.2 Max Tow 2wd on order since September 13 2014. When I was first given a build date after a lot of discussion they said Feb. 17 2015. It was recently bumped back to March 16. They must have a big problem with either the engine or trans. From what I read here, it is probably the trans. Neither G.M. or the dealer will tell me anything.

They've been making 6.2/8speeds...just not the NHT's.

The question is why aren't they making the nht package?

I'm thinking that they are going to perfect the programming for the 8 speed / 3.23 before we see any/many 8 speed with the 3.42.

 

But just a guess.

 

It could also be that the first customer ones are built and in transit...

Being that it creates worries about buying one from anyone researching it, it would be nice for them to post some kind of explanation.
