Well guys n gals the other night i took my kid to my aunts in the boondocks, I decided to try something on the way home, take a piece of paper and hold it over the intelilink screen and you will find this greatly helps the headlight situation, while this is not the whole problem, (lights still suck) I found this to help alot, gonna order some privacy screens off ebay and trim them to fit, will report when I do this

Imcrazy, yes but I love the dash, and it drives me nuts turning it down, lol always loved a bright dash going back to my trans am days, its a shame to dim that cluster,

You do know that you can darken the HMI to complete darkness, right?

The instrument cluster and the steering-wheel-mounted buttons are a different story. They're still too bright at the lowest setting when driving on an unlit road.

Start from the Main Menu. Select Settings. Scroll down and select Display. Select Turn Off Display. The HMI screen will turn off to completely dark.

This is temporary. Touching the screen or pressing a button in the center stack (including HVAC) will light up the screen back to the last window. Select Turn Off Display again if desired.

Awesome....I'm soooo slow when it comes to the techy stuff these new vehicles come with lol

You're welcome.

I wish there was a dedicated, physical button for this function. Often I think that electronics in a mass-produced vehicle nowadays were developed in such a rush and with insufficient operation simulations. I wonder if the team who designed the interior lighting ever tested or considered driving in complete exterior darkness for an extended amount of time. The fact that button and instrument cluster illumination cannot be turned off and turned down very low completely baffles me. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on this.

Ram 2013 and up have a physical button . Push once turns display off push again turns back on simple. Why couldn't Gm do this. They could have made the back ground of the display darker instead of a light grey in the middle. Dimming the back lighting down dims the gauges to much for me but you have to dim it all the way down to get the display dim enough aleast for me. But its what it is still love my Sierra.
