ABS Light 95 K1500

My 95 K1500 abs light came on about a month ago. It will come on during initial start up, then goes out. Then it comes back on once I start driving. I read a post on here on how to use a jumper wire in terminals A and H to retrieve abs codes. I did it, and there were no flashes. Any ideas? I don't want spend money on an OBD 1 if I don't have to. I have a car md, but that plug doesn't fit this vehicle.

Thanks in advance

Put the jumper in before turning the key on,once it's in turn the key on and the ABS light should flash.Remember don't start the engine.Mine works,as should yours.Double check that you're plugged in to the correct pins.

A&H like you said.

Yep. Did that. The strands of the wire kinda unraveled as I pushed it in the holes, even though I twisted the ends tight. I'm gonna try a solid wire tomorrow and see if any difference. Also, the plug looks like it's upsidedown compared to the picture I saw, and the one in your reply. I'll try to get a pic of mine up tomorrow.

I use a small paper clip and yeah, the ALDL connector probably is upside down....

I had ABS problems also a few years ago and the paper clip along with the Flashing ABS light led me in the right direction to fix the problem.Been great since.

I wouldn't worry about it , your 20 yr old truck has base brakes and is fine to drive , just no ABS which is a very basic early system ..

Drive ' er .... You're good

Rob is right,in a way.Yeah it's old but that light annoyed me so I found the problem and fixed it.Nothing wrong with keeping old systems up and running.

BTW,you have the old OBD1 ECM system on your truck, the OBD2 started in '96 and is a different connector.

The pins in my plug are arranged a little different for some reason. That's why I thought it was upside down. But I think I got the right code. It flashed 68 then 12...I'm assuming that's code 1268(12 meaning system is working). The only thing I can find online so far for 1268 is a brake pressure module. Does that sound right?

Still trying to get pics on this.

Found this on truck mode central

The 12 shows the system is working(same as engine diagnostic system,or jumping A to B)and should come first, then the code flashes come....in your case a 68.Did the 12 show up as a short flash then two short flashes, and repeat three times? After that you would have seen six short flashes, then eight short flashes repeated three times?

If that's the case I wouldn't mess with it,take it to a shop.Mine was easy, codes 22 and 26(at different times),so I replaced the sensors and it's been good now for about four years.
